Stay away from Niles outdoor equipment.
I bought this amplifier at the beginning of last summer with the matching sub-woofer. After connecting the two and powering them with sonos they worked for about 10 minutes and stooped working. I sent them back to Niles and they were repaired. Hooked the up again and again they worked for 10 minutes and then stopped working. I spent the entire summer trying to get them to play with no success. I am going to send them back again and see if I can get a working sub- woofer. I also bought 3 pairs of Niles rock speakers which worked great for a couple of years then water penetrated the case and killed them. They have a lifetime warranty but you either have to have the receipt or be able to give them the serial number. The serial number is printed on paper and desintergrates after a short while. I have 3 sets of speakers that are worthless. I would never buy another Niles product. I bought Kilpsch outdoor speakers and couldn't be happier.everye ocommeni

Works great so far!
I bought 2 Niles GS-S10 in-ground subs and made the mistake of running them both with a single Dayton Audio SA1000 amplifier. The amp fried BOTH subs and I had to dig them both up and ship them back to Niles for replacement. After both subs died only a few days apart, I decided to go with the Niles SWA-500M amplifier to push the two subs. I have used this amp for about 4 straight hours now and the subs haven't cut out at all and the sound is great. I see others have had problems with this amp and the Niles subs, but so far this setup seems to work after a couple days. So far I would recommend to anyone looking to improve their outdoor sound.

It only lasted 2 months??
I've had it for only 2 months. Worked good for the 2 months. As of today, it will NOT turn on?? Spent good money for what I thought was a quality product? Please Amazon, hold them responsible for defective products. Valued customer!

A pricey, special purpose amp that performs assigned duties flawlessly
I purchased this to power two GSS10 subterranean subwoofers in my backyard patio area. It's an expensive device with a very specific purpose, but it works exactly as it should, featuring a versatile array of connectivity options. The bass boost feature is pretty cool, as it lets you squeeze the very lowest possible bass out of your sub. The idea is to identify the frequency at the bottom of the sub's response range--the point where the frequency response curve rolls off by 3 db. You then target that frequency for the amp to boost. It offers high pass filter options to enable you to feed low bass to the subs and only higher frequency to your mains, or to feed bass to the subs, while still allowing full range audio to the mains.
