C5G1216 Adjustable 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Adapter - 12"-16"

You don't have to drill holes and bolt it on.Package does come falling apart so check to make sure you have all parts when it comes.But it is amazing pulled my trailer 800 miles with no problems.

I needed to move a 5th wheel 35" RV trailer with a truck that had a goose neck ball. It went on easy and I was able to move trailer. I bought the trailer to use as an office at a construction site. Its and older trailer (1997) and really heavy. The trailer weighs about 12k lbs dry. The hitch adapter works fine but I don't know if this older trailer's structure is strong enough to handle the added torque put on the hitch and pin.I would be reluctant to haul this heavy trailer around the country using an adapter. But I have no complaints with the adapter its self.The adapter was shipped in the factory box and it was ripped apart and parts were missing. I returned it and received a new one. It was shipped the same way and the box was ripped up again, but the parts managed to stay in the box only by good luck. The supplier needs to double box something this heavy.

This baby is well made and it got here in about 4 days so shipping was quick. I would have given it 5 stars, except it has two major problems and both are related to how it is advertised. First drawback is it claims to be adjustable from 12 to 16 inches. Well that statement is just majorly flat out wrong! In fact its impossible because the thing is 15 inches fully compressed. Yes you read that right, it doesn't get any shorter than 15 inches .Before you buy this thing, they tell you to park under your trailer and measure from the bed of your truck (right next to your goose neck ball, to the plate on your fifth wheel trailer. That's how you'll know if this thing will work for your truck and your trailer. Of course you have to have your trailer leveled as it would ride if your were hooked up and ready to pull. The distance in my case was 12 inches! So I expected this thing to be adjustable to 12 inches. Just like the product says. They do not tell you anywhere that they are measuring from inside the hole that the gooseneck ball goes into. And that's how they come up with 12 inches! Even though the damn thing is 15 inches long on the outside!. I almost sent it back without even taking it out of the box. But after 2 or 3 phone calls to both the manufacturer and the place that sold it. I was told to try it and if it didn't work for me, they would take it back for a full refund. I tried it and decided to keep it. But I might not have bought this one if I had known that it really is only adjustable from 15 to 19 inches! That is what it should truly read. Or tell people to measure from the top of the ball (meaning inside the hole) and not the truck bed as their instructions show! Bottom line is, the thing is too long for some setups and can be a pain every time your hook up and unhook because you have to raise your trailer so high.The other drawback is that I have no idea how they consider it cushioned? If anyone can figure that part out, I would sure like to know. But i'm not calling them again. All that said, it is a good product that should be advertised correctly and would still sell, But they need to employ a little truth in advertising and not mislead people about the measurements. Would have saved me a lot of frustration when it arrived.

Does what it is supposed to do. Got us out of a pinch and still use it today short distances

Had to pick up a fifth wheel trailer 15 hrs away in Az., And didn't want to have to drill any holes or do a bunch of work getting things mounted. Pulled in unpacked and mounted right up. I did appreciate the seller helping hold it in place for the intial install. It is a little heavier than a guy thinks and holding it in place correctly to mount up with one hand would have been very tough. Probably could have, but the help was appreciated. Took about 15 minutes and was on the road. Haulef the fifth wheel all the way to Missoula Mt, then to Portland Or, and now it's in Central Oregon. No problems.

I purchased new, and this product shipped with no locking collar. I needed to use right away, so I had to source locally. VERY frustrating this shipped with a key missing part!

My brother in law and I installed this kit on my 5th wheel RV in a matter of about 5 min. I hooked up to my unit and drove for a 1 mile round trip to get a feel for it. I had plenty of clearance on turns an without any jerking or other noises. My truck is a 2005 Ford F 350 short box. Didn't have to adjust anything. My brother in law took it camping with his grandkids to a campsite in eastern Iowa and had no problems at all. His truck is a 2019 Dodge 3500 short bed.

Nice smooth tow even for converting to gooseneck, the cushions add a much more enjoyable ride. I just wish they would get rid of the square headed bolts.
