Wildlife Sciences High Energy Bird Suet Cake 12 Packs (Nuts and Berry Blend)

Very disappointed as I purchased TWO orders upfront because of it’s enticing ingredients of nuts and berries. As of over 2 months of hanging in my backyard from a shepherd’s staff, in an open, clear area, NADA! No action!I refill my bird seed feeder every 5 days and the 2, well-separated hummingbird feeders (because hummingbirds are territorial and will avoid a feeder if another feeder is in their line of vision) about every 6 days. ALSO, every day at dawn, I sprinkle 1/2 cup of sunflower seed pieces atop a 3’ brick wall which a dozen cooing Mourning Doves stand watch for in eager anticipation.My feeders also attract besides the typical Blackbirds, Sparrows, and Wrens: melodic Finches, soaring Tohees, Yellow-Headed Blackbirds, and (king of the mountain positioning) Yellow Tanagers.I am aware that suet cakes attract Woodpeckers, a species void in my area which is 5 miles from the beach in San Diego.

WINTER USE ONLY!! This suet is deceptively labeled as “melt resistant”, but it melts even on sunny days — even in 50 and 60 degree temperatures. The birds like the flavor, but the fact that it melts and makes such a mess makes it a terrible value. I gave it two stars only because it could be used a few months out of the year during very cold temperatures and also because the birds seem to like it.

This item is called nuts and berry, but there are no berries in it, just berry flavor. The ingredient list says peanut pieces, but there are so few and fine that i can't see them. I've had a block up for almost 2 weeks and it's still just about intact. Don't waste your money on this product.

I really like how easy it is to open. The absence of a tray holding the suet also is useful, because I don't have to squeeze the product out of that tray and then get rid of the tray. In addition, the birds really like it. Sadly, I have a swarm of Grackles that absolutely LOVE it and they finish one in about 24 hours.

My birds love this! The price is great and it always ships quickly. I removed the glass panels from an old bird feeder and simply place one of these cakes right in the middle of the feeder - it works perfect and the birds love it. This way, nothing drops to the ground and my birds still have the safety of a cover/roof of a regular bird feeder. Also, in case it rains there's no mess because the cake pieces stay contained on the feeder. Between the migrating birds and my sparrows, I go through about one of these cakes a day.

This isn't a bad suet-cake by any stretch, but its "berry blend" is provided by an artificial berry flavour, which is not quite what I was expecting from the name. That said, the small birds seemed to think it was alright, after a few days of indifference to them -- birds don't take to them as quickly as they do home-made suet cake, and the woodpeckers ignored them altogether, but they weren't bad on the whole.
