Works as expected
StandScan needs to better differentiate their Snap vs Pro products here on Amazon and their website, especially with regard to the installation of the diffuser, but essentially I had this assembled and working withing a few minutes of unpacking it. Except for the diffuser, lol. I was a bit dense about it.On the Standscan.com website, they offer 3 variations of this product:1. StandScan Snap - Portable Lightbox for product photos2. StandScan Pro - Portable Photo & Document Scanner3. StandScan Pro Power Bundle - Includes a full set of power accessoriesThe first two are sold on Amazon by StandScan and are not eligible for Prime shipping. What isn't shown is that it ships from Hong Kong unless you dig into the company information. It should show on the main product page.I don't have a problem with items shipping from Hong Kong - just know it may take a week or two longer than what you are used to.Generally, Pro versions of items cost more. On the Standscan website, the Pro version does cost $5 more, but on Amazon, it costs $5 less, so this added confusion as to which one to buy. It took me awhile to find this information on the Standscan website:StandScan Pro vs StandScan Snap- The Snap emits double the light of the StandScan Pro which results in better product photos.- StandScan Pro ships with 9V battery pack while the Snap ships with a 12V power adapter to power those powerful bright lights.- The Snap also includes a lighting diffuserSo, in this case, the Pro version is not as powerful (342 lumens - 30w bulb equivalent while the Snap is 648 lumens - 60w bulb equivalent) or as versatile (no diffuser). On the Standscan website, the Pro version says it comes with a 9V battery pack, which means it takes a rectangular-shaped 9V old-school radio battery also known as a transistor battery, and that it also comes with a 12V mains power adapter, which means that instead of the battery pack you can plug the Standscan Pro into the wall outlet since it does AC to DC conversion.Well, so does the Snap version I received, although the Standscan website, it says the Snap only comes with the 12V mains power adapter and that the 9V battery pack or a 12V 8xAA battery pack are optional.Without a diagram or directions for the diffuser, I ended up emailing Standscan and received a reply within a day or so with the answer for a correct insstallation. Like the assembly of the whole unit that snaps together with magnets holding everything in place, the diffuser snaps into place as well. If the diffuser is not placed "pointing" in the correct direction or if it is placed backwards, the magnets repel instead attract, and make determining the correct spot difficult to ascertain. Also, like the assembly of the whole unit that requires folds along seams, the diffuser folds but only slightly, and it was not clear which direction. This added to the confusion of which was the correct way.Although a picture is worth a thousand words, the diffuser installs so:Place the diffuser flat against the back wall of the inside of the Standscan Snap. The top of the diffuser should be smaller (9.5" in width vs 11"). There are magnets along the back wall of the inside of the Standscan Snap "lightbox" that are 5" from the bottom and 8" from the bottom. As you slide the diffuser up towards the LED light bar at the top, check to see if the magnets on the diffuser snap to one of the magnets at the 5" mark., If not, rotate the diffuser around while keeping the 9.5" width end still pointing upwards so that the magnets attract, then keep moving diffuser up to the magnets at the 8" mark where both magnets of the diffuser snap to.Note 1: A few of the LEDs flickered at first, but after awhile, they stopped flickering and now remain constant.Note 2: Four L-shaped foam stickers also came in the box. These weren't mentioned, but are so that you can attach them to the top of the Standscan Snap unit where you place your camera phone so that it is easier to position each time - if you use it in this matter as a scanner as shown in the photo here on Amazon.Note 3: The Standscan website shows that you can magnetically attach different colored backgrounds into place along the back wall of the inside where the diffuser snaps to, but this appears to be a do-it-yourself thing. I don't see any such backgrounds available from Standscan at this time.

Decent Idea Not A Very Useable Item
Nice idea too hard to work with, the magnetic card board designis tedious and frustrating to use, not practical as a portable camerastand, pretty expensive for what you get, would not recommend. The design is good but the cardboard materials just don't makeit, the lights get hot really fast and seems possibly dangerousto leave alone.

This did not work for taking small item photos -- too dark and didn't stay together well.
Yeah, I would not recommend this for someone wanting something simple to take photos with for an online shop. The lighting is just not enough and the entire thing is really hard to hold together. They are using magnets and they don't hold well through the thick cardboard.I was not pleased with the purchase and am returning the item. It doesn't light anywhere near the quality in the photos shown in the advertisement, and it will not fit my needs.

Performed as advertised, but not for what I used it for
This product is all that it claims to be, an easy to set up scanner for documents. I wanted it to take accurate photos of some art that I had produced. It did not produce images that were in the same colors as the originals. In fact it introduced a strange olive color into the photos. If you want this item to quickly scan printed documents, it is ideal.

Incredibly easy to setup and use
Very handy and my husband was really excited that it could also be used as a document scanner. Only downside is that there are references in the documentation to colored backgrounds, but no backgrounds were included.

Awesome for online product shots
I'm so pleased with this product and use it often. I have a hobby jewelry and crafts business. I advertise and sell my handmade jewelry online. I wanted to use my DSLR in a poor lighting situation, get a good white background, and have minimal editing before posting the photo online. The box works perfect for my needs. I use manual macro settings on my camera with a tripod or have used my iphone in a pinch. I also use various props inside the box. I get perfect results every time and it has reduced my photography and editing time significantly. The response from my customers has been fantastic. I hear things like, "look at the detail" or " you can really see the color, facets, design, etc". The responses have turned into increased sales. I highly recommend this product if you can't afford or don't want the higher tech light boxes available on the market.

Light Box
Thanks 😊

One box you just can not beat!
Awesome, it is actually a time travel machine. Way too small to fit a human but it's so fun to send beers to the past and future. The cat got in it at the wrong time and we are not sure what year she went to but we are confident she is begging for food.
