For infections of: fin and tail rot, Popeye, gill disease, dropsy (swollen body, protruding scales), septicemia (bleeding or red streaks on body), secondary and internal infections. MaracynTwo powder is a broad-spectrum (minocycline) developed for use in aquariums. Due to its unique properties, it is absorbed by the fish through the skin. During the prescribed treatment, the concentration of minocycline in the fish fluids rises to a therapeutic level and is available to fight systemic infections susceptible to its action. It is primarily effective against gram-negative pathogenic organisms. Internal diseases are more difficult to detect than external ones and early detection is almost impossible. Symptoms of clamped fins, general listlessness, not eating or other unusual behavior can be caused by internal infections. All suspected bacterial infections should be treated immediately.

Lost $150 worth of fish in 3 days of use! ...so far... :'(
(Pictures: Maracyn II Betta tank, my "normal" guppy tank, then a couple of my dead Bettas.) I purchased some fish that turned out to have pop eye. I treated my exposed 20-gallon aquarium which went from crystal clear to a toxic, cloudy mess in 12 hours. I used beneficial bacteria in the tank as well as a product that controls ammonia and nitrates plus helps the skin's slime coating in addition to installing SIX biologic sponge filters with water flowing through them. I lost 6 fish so far after 3 days of treatment. :( I couldn't stand it anymore, so I put 2 of my 9v UV filters in the tank. I did this 36 hours ago, and my tank is still a terrible mess! I took the picture after 24 hours of UV treatment and a 20% water change yet it was still disgusting, smelly, and slimy! I profoundly regret that I purchased this product! (I bought two, 2-packs since I have 100 gallons worth of aquariums.) I will never repurchase this. I will never buy a single product made by this manufacturer. Ever! Such an expensive, painful lesson to learn. :( I knew it would destroy the bacteria bed, but this was incredibly ridiculous! My beautiful tank and costly, happy Bettas - gone after merely 3 days of Maracyn II treatments. :(

Saved my Betta's life
My Betta had gotten a severe case of Dropsy and after I researched the options I bought this. It was overnighted to us and after about a week of consistent use he began to look and act normal. He is fully recovered now. I really thought I was going to lose him, but the little fighter pulled through :)

Saved mine with bad case of dropsy and
This saved my fish from a bad case of dropsy and an open ulcer bacterial infection. I've kept a koi and goldfish pond for 15 years so I knew when he waddled up he was in trouble. Got him into a sick tank and I figured he was a gonner so.. might as well try it. I think what really kicked in his healing is I watched him eat a clump of it because I didn't mix it well. He was swollen for about five days then I came out to check on him and his bloat was almost gone. I bought it again for a fantail that got attacked by wildlife and she's healing, too.

Saving my beloved betta
Starting second treatment now and I believe my betta will make it. My betta had Gil disease and was gulping for air and hanging out in one corner of the aquarium. Now he is swimming around and active. Before my little guy looked ready to die, floating on his side, but Maracyn Two is saving him. He looks happier and his fins are growing back. This medicine was recommended to me by a professional aquarium store, and it’s worth the price if you love your pet fish.

might work for someone else
mine didn't come with a fish brochure inside which was supiscious. I treated my Betta for Popeye and dropsy as directed on the package and he just died so I can't say this product works, I am hoping whatever I received wasn't counterfeit however. maybe it will work for someone else. it was a last resort for us after using kanaplex.

DO NOT USE IN MAIN TANK!!!!
We have a variety of saltwater fish worth about $1,500. Two of them got fin/tail rot. We tried several treatments with no success so decided to give Fritz Maracyn Two.The instructions say that a quarantine tank is “recommended” and that this product “may” harm beneficial bacteria.Because our fish tank is literally just rock and sand (no inverts) we decided to treat the main tank rather than stress the fish further by transferring to a QT.HUGE MISTAKE!Within 12 hours we had an ammonia and nitrite spike that was literally off the charts; the readings maxed out our Hanna checkers. We did a 40% water change. It’s now another 12 hours (24 hours total) and the fish are still alive but the tank looks like we dumped a gallon of milk in it and it smells aweful, like death. The ecosystem has completely crashed. We’re doing another 40% water change, hooking up a couple of carbon filters, and taking a bio block from another established tank and putting it in the sump.We hope to save our precious fish. Ugh. What a disaster. The package shouldn’t merely recommend the use of a separate quarantine tank, there should be a massive label stating that this product WILL completely annihilate beneficial bacteria and crash your entire system, and that you MUST use a QT.The problem is... even our QT has beneficial bacteria required to function properly and keep fish alive. If this product kills that within a matter of hours, how are fish supposed to survive the full five day treatment?!SO sad and frustrated right now. I don’t know the answer to fin rot but DON’T buy this product. We normally like Fritz products but i I would give this particular one zero stars if I could.
