Chenghe Elex 40400 - CH40-120B-FC12T5 T5 Fluorescent Ballast

A little troublesome to install, but that was due to the design of my light fixture. Installed it just like the broken one came out. Wired it to the circuit properly, and a flick of the switch, it blew out. I'm an avionics electrician on commercial aircraft, so I know I did the job properly. Oh Well

The ballast works great and runs much cooler than the magnetic ballast I used before. I've gone through 3 bulbs already, but I got the cheap bulbs and they don't last more than a couple of days. You can see the hot spots on the filaments when you turn the bulb on (not enough gas in the tube?). Good thing I still have a couple of Sylvania bulbs.

In my application, the ballast leads to the lamp connection were a little shorter than the original unit and did not reach to the far-side over the top of the lamp lead box. I worked around the issue by running the far-side lead UNDER the lamp connection assembly (required a tiny amount of trimming with a razor knife).

It did the job. The only bad thing is the price. But I needed it, after I fix the light y saw a nother ligth cheaper that this item.

First ballast was defective - I wasted a lot of time installing/uninstalling and trying to determine whether the problem lay with the ballast, the bulb, the fixture, or the wiring. Finally seller sent a replacement which worked.

I've bought several of these to replace old different ones. They work great.

As advertised. Compact ballast that fit in the tight space I had to work with. Leads good length and tinned. Arrived promptly. Not much else to say.
