Never used this before. Wanted to stain & waterproof a pine hatch door. Opening the tin is the biggest challenge! I'd read other people's comments about this, so made sure I put my painting clothes on first,.. covered the opening with one hand,.. pulled on the ring with the other (after starting it off with a spoon handle through the hoop),.. and got splattered with liquid! Slightly. But it wipes off skin really easily.As others have said, it is a very thin liquid, but this actually makes it extremely easy to apply evenly on the bare wood. It also means it soaks in fantastically. Read the instructions!! It must be shaken thoroughly before use, - and during, if using it for a period of time.It is low odour, so not unpleasant to work with - but it is still spirit-based, so work in a well ventilated area. Being so thin, it is easy to wipe the brush when finished, have a quick squidge around in a small amount of white spirit (small lidded jam jar is useful), then wash with hot water & washing up liquid - done! No tarry residue at the base of the bristles like with many other spirit-based products.I left it 24 hours and applied a second coat. Then another 24 hours and a third coat. It certainly has great water-repelling properties. Now to see if it survives the winter...

It’s great stuff but over priced, paid same price for 2L as I did for 5L previously from a store.

It absorbs well and goes a long way
