Mixed feelings... Don't like Prelude&Introduction;Love everything else.
The author's etymology about Yorùbá language and culture in the prelude is 100% wrong and white washed. It says in so many words that Yorùbá came from the Arab Muslims and the Egyptians but I know for a fact that Yorùbá predates Judaism & Christianity tens of thousands of years and Islam came 600 hundred years after Christianity so how could Yoruba derive from the Arab world? 🤷🏾♀️ 🤦🏾♀️ 🙄 😕The Yorùbá just celebrated their recorded year of 10,065 in June 2023! But the book is pretty accurate about how the Òríṣàs descended from ọrùn/heaven to the 🌎 earth, how Olódùmarè gave them their Àṣẹ́/powers and how humans were created by Ọbatala and how we chose our Òrí... I have fact checked the stories with my Babalawo Akintunde Sangosakin Ajala. So skip the prelude part, and go straight to page 1.

Great History lesson , and good book for an introduction in the Ifa Faith
At first I thought this was the whole book of the 256 chapter ODU IFA English Translation—-it’s 33 chapters — The Book gives a great introduction backdrop on history and the connection the Yoruba tribe has with other ancient civilizations and their faiths such as Ancient Egypt ( Kemet ) , - Very Powerful — The 33 chapters a good introduction into the Odu and religion— The story of creation and history of the most popular Orishas are very entertaining and insightful- great book to add to the library — “I advise they go back and correct some spelling some words were combined “

Not the Odu Ifa
I was looking to get an affordable translation of the Odu Ifa. This is affordible, but not that. I am not versed in Yoruban religion, but I can tell when someone is adding their own opinions and viewpoints without rigor or academic discipline. This book starts with a lot of unsupported claims as to the etymology of words and making unsupported historical claims. I also noticed alterations in spellings designed to reinforce the authors perspective. The result was that I couldn't trust the translation itself. I felt like this was NOT representative of Ifa, but only an opportunity for the author to preach his personal beliefs. I would recommend that someone looking for authentic Ifa beliefs look elsewhere.

DUBIOUS
This is a very strange book. It is not what one may expect of books on the subject of Odu-Ifa. It has the format of a bible book with a mixed feeling of Santeria misrepresentation of Orishas. Quite confusing at times. There are better books on the subject available.

Not Ifa
Anyone like Dr. Malakhi Z York is definitely in no way shape or form the representation of Ifa, Orunmila, or Orishas. Most do not ever want to be truthful when it comes to Ifa, so they try and merge these deities (Orishas) with Egypt, and other names of other gods. Dr. Malachi Z York did not believe in any God or religion, and anyone who in the Nuabian Nation can you prove Dr. M.Z.Y. was a Babalawo? if you can please prove it. Ifa is secret for a reason, and just because you are from Africa does not automatically give you permission to talk about things that pertain to Babalawo's especially if you are not one. This book is no exception eirher. Dr M.ZY is a convicted child predator, and he is doing life in prision for life for giving child anal diseases, and sickness on the land when he was still in georgia.
