Correct remote control for newer versions of MS-2812
Replaced a 2006 version of the MS-2812 because it could not be properly setup for use with the LiPO batteries I replaced my RV house batteries with. When I replaced the charger/inverter, I had to use a remote control to access the charge settings because the interface the RV uses (E-Plex) could not be modified to provide the required higher charge voltage. This remote control is the correct unit to use with the newer versions of the MS-2812. Check the compatibility chart and/or contact Magnum Energy to ensure it will function with older units. The remote comes with plenty of cord to permit most likely any installation one might encounter. I mounted the controller in the bathroom since I had easy access to cableways to the basement of the coach through the electrical compartment located directly below the bathroom. Kit comes with everything needed to make a clean installation possible.Remote control setup is fairly straight forward, though it took me a while to work through the different settings to achieve what I want. Not a comment on the unit, I suspect, as much as it is on me.Definitely provides the appropriate interface for controlling the inverter/charger.

beneficial & worthwhile investment to run an off-grid solar-generator system
bought this model as it was the only one with the surface mount frame. intended to basically control my magnum MS2812, turning inverter and charger on & off. what i’ve come to realize is it is invaluable as part of my solar-generator off-grid system.depending on my battery level and the sun of the day, i may choose to run the generator and only pass-thru my 120V loads. this allows me easily to turn the charger on and off according to my needs. depending on the required load of the generator (so i don’t overload it) i can vary the rate of charging by reducing or increasing the charge A-AC and then see the corresponding charge A-DC on the display. i adjust the LBCO (voltage level that will fault/turn off my inverter) so i don’t drain the batteries too far overnight. these settings are conveniently located in the favs button so i don’t have to dig through menus.my RV doesn’t have an actual voltage meter - just full, 3/4 etc. the ARC allows me to see the actual voltage of my batteries not the voltage registered on my solar controller during charging (which is higher than actual). this helps me gauge better if my batteries are indeed fully charged before bedtime.highly recommend this magnum controller to dovetail all the other components for monitoring & control of your solar-generator off-grid system.

This is technically optional BUT...
If you're buying a Magnum PureSine inverter, you NEED this. The MS-PAE series inverter is incredibly flexible as far as applications go, but the only way to customize it to your particular setup and get your settings dialed in is with this "optional" add-on. I think they chose to sell it as a separate component because you can have up to 4 of these inverters parallel stacked, but you still only need one of these ARCs, so it's nice to be able to just get the inverters without buying extra parts you won't need. With that said, if you have a single inverter, you'll almost certainly want to have the ability to control important options (eg. how many Ah your battery bank is, where to set the bulk/float charge voltages based on battery type, etc...)

Installed Easily
I needed the options in the ME-ARC for my new lithium house batteries so that they charged properly on shore power. These extended options just aren't available in the basic control. It was very easy to swap out with the old Magnum model. Programming was as stated in the manual, although I had to check with several experts to ensure I had the right settings for the batteries because Magnum uses confusing terminology.

Why does the included cord not work, too long?
I installed this with my magnum inverter it comes with a 50ft cord that I had to fish through some sucky places. After everything was run the unit didnt power up. I went to my shed and got a 12' phone cord out of a junk box from 1980 and the unit powered up. I then went to home depot and got a nice brand new 25 ft phone cord to ensure when I fished that wire that I would have plenty of slack but before I did that I tested the new cord and .... No power So. My old shed cord got fished through the walls and I just moved the remote closer to the inverter.

A must for my lithium battery to keep charge, discharge, and depth of discharge settings.
Allows so much more from my system. I can now customize anything and everything I need. A must for keeping your batteries happy and charged the way they like.
