How heavy is each ball? Do they bounce?

They are plastic balls made of the same or like material as a wiffle ball but thinner. So yes they do bounce but they are not bouncy like a rubber ball. My toddler can crush these out of our smallish backyard off a tee. So they are not very hefty so they wont hurt if if you accidentally bean your kid with one.

I'm looking for solid balls, which I thought there were, but the description says 'Perforated balls provide lightweight safety'. Are these perforated?

No they are solid. Just like the ones that come with the pitching machine

Well... you can, but don't expect the balls to stay intact very long. My 8-yo grandson has cracked a few with a plastic bat.
