Shinkansen 'Water' Sharpener - Black and Red

This a great sharpener and highly recommend it. My issue in the beginning was that I had never gotten my Global knife sharpened so when I started using this sharpener, it wasn’t working. BUT what I noticed is that the knife has to adhere to the proper sharpener structure so it takes more than the recommended 8 strokes to sharpen. For me, it took me about 40+ strokes until the knife shaped into the proper form. Almost like what a professional cutler who hones steel. Great affordable product!

This knife sharpener is the bomb! I was amazed by how sharp this inexpensive sharpener got my knives!Hands down, this is the best product that you’ll find for the price. I’ve been wanting a similar sharpener for years, but couldn’t pull the trigger on the $60 price tag. This one was in the low $20 price tag and is super easy to use.I highly recommend this product!

There was nothing to dislike but now that Amazon is getting hungry for the bucks it's now on my do not but list'.I will look for this and if not well mine still works well.

LOVE THIS!! We had one just like it but gave it to our son because his knives, including his one global knife we got him for Christmas a few years ago, was so dull that he couldn’t even cut a tomato. He loves it! We own it for eight years and it still works fine. So I bought the next step up which is the black handled one and we were so disappointed! I returned it and re-purchased this one. You cannot go wrong with this one. We own all the sizes of global knives including the meat cleaver and it sharpens all of them with ease and perfectly every time. Love it!

Works really well for my Global Knives. Believe the reviews, it really works, just make sure you follow directions the first time you use it, so you don't damage the stone rollers or worse, the expensive knives. I was skeptical at first, but take it from me, it really works, quick and easy! Its probably meant for larger blades, even though it worked for my 3.5" small pairing knife, it was a little awkward operating it with a small blade. Not enough to take a star off for that.. As so by many have already said, this sharpener is amazingly effective with the finest wheel only “medium.” It is much faster than using a stone, which means you will use it more often. It is fairly idiot proof (Unlike any “steel”) due to the automatic angle. I use it on my Global and Shun knives. It takes a few more strokes with the Shun. Perfect match for the Global. If I want to get real anal about having a super, super sharp edge with that great paper-cutting sound (some of you purists know what I mean) I’ll use a leather strop to finish it. But that is literally splitting hairs...

I have a Global chef knife for almost ten years, never sharpened. Recently I found it a bit hard to cut some tomatoes, then I realized my favorite knife needed some sharpening. I was going to mail it to a professional sharpening service for Japanese knives, and I came across a youtube video from Global Knife. It's a tutorial about how to use this little tool to sharpen my Global knife myself. I thought I would give it a try before shipping my knife out. I'm glad that I did. This is very easy to operate and about the same price as I pay for a one-time professional sharpening service!

I purchased a entire set of Global Knives. Sadly I couldn't find a knife sharpening business that could sharpen this particular brand. I definitely didn't want to send them off and wait for them to come back. I found this sharpener online, and thought I'd give it a try.Well first it arrived about 2 days before the projected date even started. So that to me means trustworthy. I sharpened my first knife and I have to say I'm impressed. Now I need not worry about sending them off and of and when I would get them back or much worse get something other then what I shipped.Over all I happy with this purchase and it's much more reasonable price then from other sites. I got it for about half price.
