Broadfall Pants Pattern

Better than average for a historical pattern. Pieces all fit together with a minimum of alterations. However, where the front and back pieces of the legs are supposed to meet at the hem, the front is several inches longer than the back. Another problem is the lack of pockets. I drafted a side pocket with mixed success. Will do better next time. On the plus side, easy to assemble for someone with limited sewing experience.

Make it to your normal size, don't try to fit as they are baggie. Pattern directions could be clearer. Not overly difficult and definitely authentic.

The directions were very easy to follow. I knew that the pants were designed to be loose-fitting. However, I was trying to create a tighter look since I was making circa 1813 pants for my husband. I achieved this by taking them in at the side seams. Easy! My only negative observation is that the front and back pants leg pattern pieces don't match up at the hem. The back is a couple inches longer! This, of course, was an easy fix and didn't create any serious complications.
