Stitch Draw: Design and Technique for Figurative Stitching

I have only just touch the surface of this book, but already I can see that this is no ordinary craft/art book. Whilst it has plenty of working information, the joy of it is in its inspiration and varied ideas. This not so much a how to as technical book, although it has some aspects of it, but it explores the ways to use stitch in artistic was with plenty of example from other artist. I am a screenprinting as well as a fibre artist and this book is a fantastic jump off point for someone that wants a bit more than "do this then that" type of book. I can already hear my brain ticking over with ideas. Great

I bought this book for ideas and techniques in stitching figures; the book delivers basic information, but after the first few chapters, it seems much is repeated with only a few variations.

I have been pouring through this book and am excited to try the techniques defined within. I love the creative use of a machine for embroidery--Ms. James accomplishes some amazing work that I thought could only be done by hand. I was so wrong!

Well written with great examples.

This is an exceptional book for anyone interested in free motion stitching figures into their art.

Good book but the work of the author is a little visually confusing because the threads leftover from her stitching are left to give the work a scribble effect. Still, the book has lots of helpful guidance.

This book told me lots of things I wanted to know...especially about free machine embroidery...also a good section on making one's own screen printing frame. All the information is clearly presented, and it is a good read too. This is a book I will return to again and again. Glad I bought it!

Love this book, totally brilliant, worth every penny. Great drawing ideas, easy steps. I teach art and am using some of the ideas with the kids I teach and they love it too.

This book is great, so comprehensive. I did a course with Rosie and it's great to look back on instructions when I need to. Nice to see other artist's work as well..

Absolutely fantastic! Takes figure drawing to a whole new level. Not only is this book inspiring, Rosie James gives clear, concise instructions on how she achieves her wonderful art work. Her techniques can apply to subjects other than the figure. I would recommend this book to all textile artists.

I like the techniques and the pictures I have made always impress those I show them to. I was lucky enough to go on a workshop with Rosie and she signed my copy.
