Great for staying safe and smart
I recently purchased the Breathometer, conveniently before a friend's wedding. As smart as my friends are they don't always know when they've had too much to drink. What was cool about the Breathometer is that it doesn't matter how much a person has to drink or doesn't, everyone is willing to blow into it and check their alcohol level because they get excited to see it. It was interesting to see how many people were surprised by their level. My favorite part of this product is that is give you an estimated time before you become sober enough to drive. This has really come in handy, especially living in a city where everybody drives everywhere.I highly recommend this product as something to keep in your car at all times because you never know when you or someone else will need it.

Let me tell you why this is will be a stupid buy for you...
First thing that sucks: it tries to grab your Facebook credentials. Um, no? Then in order for it to work you still have to provide some sort of email address and password nonsense. Really? I don't buy things to plug, PHYSICALLY, into my phone to have to wire up to your marketing juggernauts. Second thing, it is the first week you get it, the first dozen blows, vaguely accurate. But only so accurate it tells you what you already know unless you are some sort of drinking for the first time 'tard. After then it doesn't work at all or at all accurately and wants you to pony up more money to get it maintenanced at corporate headquarters or whatever. Pass. Please all of you pass. Either trust yourself, because honestly you know better than this piece of shite device or buy a genuine device that has nothing to do with your phone that the police or a lab might use.

Not as impressed as I thought
I received the product with great aniticipation of utilizing the great technology it uses to establish an accurate BAC level. The packaging seems good enough and makes a nice presentation. The retractable plug doesn't always stay down when I attempt to plug it into my iphone. It took about 3 to 4 tries before I was finally able to get the plug to insert correctly. It too much longer to connect as the plug is not compatible with a phone that has a case on it. You have to remove the case completely then plug it in or you have to purchase an extension adapter. It seems like a lot of work for something I am only going to use sparingly.Downloading the app was simple but the unit has to calibrate each time it's going to take a reading. That takes about 20 seconds to do then it only notifies you through a visual que on the phone that it is starting its analysis mode so by then you are only blowing into the product for about 2 seconds. It seemed cool on their website and Sharktank but once I tried it I wasn't all that impressed. Mine is not working every time so I am having to return it.

It's really small and works really well. Great for a night out.
I got my Breathometer recently and have had an opportunity to use it a few times. It really seems to be a valuable tool for keeping yourself (and your friends) in check when you're out having a good time. For one thing, it's a good party trick. Everyone wants to have a go at it.But beyond that, I found that it genuinely does what it claims to do. When I first received it, I hadn't had anything to drink for a few days. So I installed the app and plugged it in. It went through the calibration and told me to blow. I did and it very quickly read a 0.0. So, of course, I reached for a bottle of whiskey and poured myself a splash. About one finger. I waited about 40 minutes after finishing sipping it and then tested myself again. I blew a 0.06. Personally, I thought maybe that was a slightly high reading but as I've never taken a breathalyzer test before I had no foundation for that guess.I've seen some complaints about people not getting the device to read with their phone. One thing I'll note: make sure when you extend the audio plug you do so such that it clicks into it's fully-extended position. I failed to do this the first time as it takes a little bit of effort and when I did the device wouldn't read. I am guessing that this is because if the plug is not fully extended it's not internally making contact with the sensor and other electronics.Pros: It's tiny. It has an engaging app that records your drinking habits and will call you a cab if needed. It's fun to play with.Cons: I can't think of any at the moment.

Not impressed
First off, breathometer only cared about getting this to retail. Not their clients who funded making it happen nor their presales.I originally bought this from breathometer directly in November with guaranteed Christmas delivery. I did not get it by then nor by February.I finally saw it on amazon and canceled my order with breathometer, I got it in a few days thanks to amazons on time way of handling.Breathometer advertised the product working with any iPod or iPhone with iOS 5 or greater. They made the app only work on iOS 7. This takes out all iPods but the latest one. So the iPod 3 and 4 will not work with it at all.The "extended" plug doesn't fit the most nominalistic of cases. Not one and since I work on iPhones I have a lot of cases. You will have to take your phone out of the case to use it. No way around thatAccuracy? No, definitely not. Because of the method you blow into it away from the mouth piece this product does not compare to a real breathalyzer. We tested it against one of my friends commercially available ones and the breathometer even differed every time against itselfThe unit looks sleek, the keychain holder loop looks like it will hold for a long time the battery door opens without you opening it. The app is informative. I may or may not keep it solely because of the app and the science behind it . I am undecided currently.

Great product
Tried this and found it to be accurate with the Blood alcohol/weight charts. Easy to use. If it saves one accident its worth it. It will be fun at parties as well! The size is really a nice feature as it is the same size as a key fob.RichardEllicott City, MD
