I used to buy 100 percent cotton socks in local stores, but I can't find them anywhere these days. I bought the white version first, and then the black version. My brother bought the gray. They are expensive, but you sometimes get what you pay for. My feet can breathe, and the top of the sock doesn't feel like a tourniquet. I wore the white socks pretty much every day since before the pandemic, and they are now starting to develop some holes. I wore the black ones when I was teaching, and they are still intact. I will buy these again when I start running out of socks to wear.

In search of the elusive (good quality) 100% cotton mens sock to fit my US shoe size 9 feet, I ordered and tried three products (all in black):****  Davido Mens Socks crew made in italy 100% cotton 8 pairs (9-11, black) Size 9-11 (Shoe 9-11?) — 8 packLight to medium weight. Provide some cushioning. Small size range means good fit. Feels like cotton. Breathes well. Extra thickness than other two makes them good for walking and cooler months. My only reservation is that they feel a bit rough.***  The Right Fit Men"s 98% Cotton Casual Work Loafer Ribbed Crew Style Dress Socks- Black- Size 11-13- 6 Pack Size 11-13 (Shoe 7-10) — 6 packLight weight. Very elastic (to achieve 7-10 shoe size range). Hard to believe only 2% “spandix”. Felt a little tight but not overly constricting. More comfortable around calf if top folded down. Did not breath as well as the other two, so claimed cotton content is suspect.*****  100% Cotton Socks Men's Black 3-pack Thin - shoe size 9-10 Size 9-10 (Shoe 9-10) — 3 packLight weight. Narrow size range means very good fit. Very comfortable. Definitely feels like cotton. Soft cotton feels great against skin. Breathes well. Good for warmer months. “Hidden elastic at top” is comfortable and works well.I will update this review when I have more information on shrinkage and durability.

If you remember the days when you could walk into any chain athletic shoe store and buy a 12-pack of really good 100% cotton socks for $10, this is the closest thing to it you’re going to find today (if you’ve looked, you know what I’m talking about). I’d say they’re slightly less sturdy than the best of those socks were, but only slightly. Some reviews here complain that they’re too thin, but I bought this same product about 8 months ago (4/18), have worn them regularly, and they’re holding up fine - so I just bought another set (12/18). They’re not the thickest socks I’ve ever worn, but they’re definitely not the thinnest. Most importantly, they feel good on my feet, and they breathe like 100% cotton should.I don’t know if it’s true, but I was told by someone in the clothing industry that something changed a few years ago in the US trade politics regarding imported cotton, and it has significantly impacted the price of cotton here. That’s also why good, inexpensive cotton sheets are so hard to find now too.To sum up: I like them, they’re comfortable, they breathe well, and they haven’t fallen apart on me under normal, consistent use in almost a year.The bottom line is, if you’re looking for some good, everyday socks, and 100% cotton is a top priority, these are the best bang for your buck right now. And believe me, I looked *hard* for a long time before I came across these.

Good but a little short going up the calf for boots and could be a little thicker for more comfort in working shoes and boots.
