After a year or so, the bottom of the mouse pad began to leave a sticky residue on my desk which was hard to clean off.

Not good
The leather part of not very good and the mouse won't slide easily. The other side is better but not by much. Without the rubber side, the pad was sliding as you move the mouse. The traditional mouse pad is still the best.
