Vital product for Hearing Aid wearers- I highly recommend it!
If you wear hearing aids, this product is a vital part of keeping your hearing aids clean and dry. Hearing aids aren't something you can throw in a sink and wash - as electronic devices, that would, of course, ruin them! During the course of a full day of wearing them, the wearer's ears can get sweaty, generating moisture and waxy residue. Not pretty, but it's a fact.I also would suggest that if you have a loved one (a parent, for example) who wears aids you should look into this product as well as the machine required to make use of it. Especially in older folks who get aids, one of the main reasons they STOP using these expensive devices is because they do not know to condition their aids nightly in a product like this. Is this the only device/desiccant one can use for this? NO, ***BUT*** having worn hearing aids for three decades, I've tried other devices and desiccants, and I'm going to tell you up front from personal experience, that this is the best method I've found for keeping my aids dry and clean, and (sorry for the too-much-info) help keep my ears from itching all-the-dadgummed-time!WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS THING?The role of the Dry Brik is to be placed in a machine (The Dry & Store) and used every single night to clean and condition your aids. It dries up the moisture (not by voodoo, but I'm not getting into all of the science - not my area of expertise!) by use of this desiccant block, which is created to be used for approximately 2 months. The 2 month time period isn't to get you to buy them more often, rather it is actually how long this little brick will dry things out for you (at least that is true in SE Texas - perhaps in Arizona or another really dry area, you might eke out more use!). There is a spot on the front where you can write the date you open and start using it (you have to peel off the little cover sticker before using to activate it - sort of like removing the seal on the back of a hearing aid battery to activate it, presumably by exposure to the air/oxygen). You place this brick in the holder inside your Dry& Store and place your aids inside, batteries and all, and push the start button. The cycle lasts several hours, so this is part of my nightly routine: hearing aids out, into D&S, turn it on, wash my face/brush my teeth, go to bed.... In the morning, the cycle has finished and my aids are ready for use again. This all may be more information that one wants regarding this product, but seriously - without the Dry-Brik, the hearing aids don't get a nightly clean & dry, which in the end will cost you in maintenance, and in shortening the like of your aids. Again I will say that this item does require a machine to make it work effectively.... it will not work without it. If you have questions regarding care and use of your aids, feel free to ask and if I can't answer, I'll direct you to someone who can.Expertise: Hearing Aid wearer for almost 30 years, on my 6th pair of aids; have worked with many students with Audiological Impairments as a Special Education Evaluation Specialist. My purpose in reviewing this and other items is only to provide my honest opinion based on my experience with the item. Necessary for everyone with hearing aids
Everyone should store their hearing aids every night in a dryer with one of these desiccants. It prolongs the life of the instruments, as well as removes condensation from inside which tends to muffle sound and make the hearing aids less effective. The "Dry n Store" host unit should have a new brick every two months or so, perhaps more often in very humid weather. Those who run to the hearing aid center every month or so because the aids are not performing up to spec should invest in a Dry n Store and change these blocks regularly. You'll be amazed at the improvement.

A happy customer (can you hear me now?)
Using the dryer every night for my hearing aids makes them work better. This is not just an idle boast - the HA professional says one of the most frequent complaints are aids that don't work as well after a short time - they replace the little filter over the speakers, but drying the aids nightly extends the life of those filters by months. Moisture gets into the speaker openings and muffles the sound. After a thorough drying they are like new again.Sometimes it takes more than one 8 hour session to dry them out - but by opening the speaker covers and giving them a few more hours, they are restored.

Does **NOT** "work with ALL Dry & Store models", but...
Contrary to the product info on the Amazon page ("Works with all Dry and Store Models"), these items do NOT work with older Dry and Store systems (i.e., the 'Professional' model). These Dry Brik IIs do not have the metal band at the back end. If you try to use these Dry Brik IIs with the older Professional Model Dry and Store, the red light will not go out when you close the drawer and the product will not work. If you have this older Professional model I recommend that you consult dryandstore.com and call the toll-free support number on their web page. They will cheerfully send you a small metal insert (at no charge) which you can use in conjunction with these Dry Brik IIs so that they will work with the Professional Model. I received the insert from them two days after my request. In the meantime, to make one of these Dry Briks work, I retrieved a previous used Dry Brik II from the trash can, peeled off the metal strip, and attached it to the back end of one of these new ones and it worked.

They work in the Dry&Store to keep hearing aids working!
I don't actually remember what they cost, and I hadn't thought about the ease of use of presentation until the questions were asked. I think of the Dry-Briks as something that the Dry&Store needs to keep my hearing aids working. They ARE very easy to use, and there are 6 bricks in a compact package. The most important part is that since using the Dry&Store with the Dry-Briks, my hearing aids have worked consistently, without problems!

It's the only game in town.
My husband needs these to dry out his hearing aid equipment. I would buy them regardless of price and these are the same as the originals that came with the item. They work. That's the important part. Humidity and water can be the death of hearing aids, so thee dryer blocks are essential. You need them.

Exactly what was needed –– for a reasonable price
I was so thrilled to find these for a decent price on Amazon! They're exactly what my mother needed for her Cochlear Implant Processor's overnight dryer. These cost much less than buying them directly from the audiologist's office at "this major, midwest American clinic".(Shhhhhhhh... the audiologist suggested we check Amazon's prices first. Don't tell the clinic...)

Desicant blocks
I have been using DryBrik II Desiccant Blocks in my Dry & Store Global II machine for years, and wouldn't want to be without them. I find the batteries last almost twice as long when I store them in the machine at night, and the hearing aid does not need repairing as often. Before I used them, my audiologist would occasionally have to send the hearing aid back for repair because of dampness. When I have had to travel without my machine and dessicant blocks I find the batteries only last half as long, if that, and my hearing aid has never needed to be sent back because of dampness The only complaint I have is that I am never quite sure if I have activated the dessicant block, since it seems to take several days to notice a difference.

Didn’t know this was for hearing aids
Unfortunately this is sold in amongst absorbing blocks for rooms. After a closer look at the product packaging it is specifically for hearing aids. Clearly my error but I’m annoyed that it’s not returnable so this is in the rubbish bin. Every penny counts, especially these days on limited funds. Ugh.
