Beyond the Wall of Resistance (Revised Edition): Why 70% of All Changes Still Fail-- And What You Can Do About It

While reading this book I had some very specific situations come to mind. Now I understand why my change attempts failed in those situations. Back in the day, I was the rock-head that thought I had to bore through any resistance I met, boy do I wish I had read this book earlier in my life. Even though I have matured in my change agent approaches, this book provided some great structure and insight on how to approach change in a much more intelligent way.

The clear explanations give practical examples that you can relate to immediately. It pictures resistance (own and others) in a way that you can not deny. Some easy tricks are given to work with and (hopefully) turn resistance into something useful.

Rick Maurer has taken the best of his original "beyond resistance work", "Why Don't You Want What I Want" and added new observations and suggestions to deal with significant change. This isn't blind prescription, Rick uses evidence based research & real practitioner input to revise, update & infuse this book with very useful suggestions to help people leading change to engage those impacted by change. I am totally biased here - I have known Rick for 15 years & have used his ideas with great results.

A few good concepts. Tons of cocktail conversation advice that grows wearisome.

Just getting started and the author is digging into real issues and has a way to get you thinking of how to take another view.

When you are leading changes in your organization, this book will help you avoid those passive nay sayers. I love this book.

A cornerstone in the understanding of change management
