Marmite Yeast Extract Squeezy, 200 Gram Jars

Marmite is something you either love or hate. Mind you, it is an acquired taste (most often when young), as any Brit or Aussie will tell you. It’s certainly unique and I love the stuff. The squeeze container is great for applying just the right amount, just where you want it. Update 3/19/20 Really thought I should add this... For longstanding Marmite fans, this comment is superfluous - but for newbies with an adventurous bent, p-l-e-a-s-e take note. The usual application of Marmite to, for example, toast is a very thin spread. VERY thin. Trust me, a little goes a long way. This is due to its strong savory flavor. Here's a story for you. An American friend of mine who'd spent time in the U.K. and acquired a taste for Marmite, brought some back to the U.S. to continue the habit of Marmite-on-toast. A jar was left on the kitchen table and his younger brother decided to try it (after hearing what great stuff it was etc.). He generously slathered some on toast, the way you would do with peanut butter... Well, after one bite he nearly gagged. It's hysterically funny, but only if you are familiar with the stuff! So, heed this warning, start off with tiny amounts until you come to terms with this unique flavor. What does it taste like? Uh... that's hard to describe... but it's definitely in the savory family. Melted cheese on toast is just not the same once you've tried it with a wee bit spread on the toast before you melt the cheese. Yummy! BTW, you may recall that picture Tom Hanks posted when he was hit with the Corona virus while in Australia... you know, the picture he posted of his breakfast while in isolation... remember? I couldn't help but laugh out loud because the toast on his plate featured an extremely unstinting spread of Vegemite (plus an adjacent jar of Vegemite, the down under version of Marmite). It seems he's since learned the error of this and now knows how to spread it properly :-)

I don’t understand why this hasn’t become more popular. It has two primary purposes: (1) It tastes amazing on toast with butter; and (2) it adds umami to any stew or sauce. It is the fourth stickiest substance known to man, it smells like teen spirit, and it is an aphrodysiac. Please try it 3 times. The first two will leave you wondering why anyone would every have tried to eat this substance, but by the third taste, you’ll understand.

The best, I prefer it on toast with a bit of butter. Squeezy jar is so easy and less messy. This is a bit pricey but it is a British product, just depends if it’s for you or not. I love it, bought up on the stuff.

my husband is the true Marmite fan but I enjoy it occasionally too. I thought to try these bottles and they are a little more convenient than the jars but I can see that the squeezy access can get messy after a bit (at least with my husband involved...

I can’t tell you how many jars of marmite I’ve gone through in my lifetime so far. When I saw a SQUEEZE bottle, my little heart nearly exploded with happiness. I do have a warning for you, but this is not in any way a “it’s bad” warning. It’s more of a learn from my mistakes warning… A lot comes out - if you like just the tiniest amount on your buttered toast like me, practice the art of a gentle squeeze so you get a stringy line of marmite deliciousness drizzled on your toast. If you don’t, you’ll get the inevitable eye twitch and mouth pucker that comes with a nice big blob that was disproportionate to that butter and toast. Ratios are important, people! Especially involving marmite! Enjoy!!

Handy squeeze container. Makes the spreading on butter toast a breeze. We have this most mornings and I have to save I like the ease of the squeeze. Very first world of me. Tastes just like Marmite.

More expensive, but less mess! Also, it’s easier to spread the correct portion vs the glass containers.
