Perhaps I am learning and adjusting but not sure I will continue UPDATED July 2024
My late father used a shaving brush and I still have the handle from MANY years ago. I am not sure what prompted me to finally buy one of my own. I got this and it is beautiful to look at. However when I started using it I broke out almost immediately. After about three weeks I put it away but decided to try again about 4 months ago. I did not break out but it is shedding. In the last month I have long and short hairs/bristles every time I shave. I am using an olive oil soap and whisk it gently in the palm of my hand. I do like the lather but am not pleased at the loss of bristles this soon. I will see how long it lasts before I decide if I will buy again. (Online it says at least two years... and often longer... this is far less).UPDATE: It is now July 2024 and after losing bristles as it was getting broken in, it has been stable for a while and works well. At this point I would recommend this.

It's been a long time
I ordered this in August 2015. I never bothered writing a review at the time. I've had this brush for over 9 years now and it Is almost as good as the day I bought it. It has some water damage on the wood handle (cosmetic only, no rot at all), a few of the hairs came out over the years but not many. Otherwise it is the same Soft supple brush, after daily use for 9 years. This is a great product.

Perfectly good first/backup brush
I bought this brush 3 years ago, and it absolutely can't be beat for the price. There was some cracking in the finish which has caused water damage over time, but it's still a functional, comfortable brush and will go into my travel kit now that I've replaced it. The knot has held together, stayed properly glued, and hasn't lost hairs since the first few shaves, even though I abused it and tend to leave a brush soapy/wet."Pure Badger" is a grade of badger (the lowest), not just another word for 100% - higher quality badger is "Best Badger" and then "Silvertip" is the highest quality (softest). But that being said, this isn't by any means scratchy or uncomfortable, it's just a little more exfoliating.

Incredibly Soft, Comfortable, Value for Money
The bristles are incredibly soft and the brush maintains its shape after each use. No weird smells or sharpness. A complete pleasure to use.I've been using it for 2 weeks so I cannot comment on what some have regarding the paint cracking. I would recommend not submerging this completely in water to preserve the product life -- this includes the handle and the area the bristles connect into the handle. I haven't really experienced loose pieces coming out. A possible explanation is some buyers are not properly blooming their shave soaps and lathering too aggressively. Also, don't forget to wet the brush. After each use you should either use a mount or lay it on its side. If you lay it directly on the brush side when wet it'll ruin the spread of the bristles. For a price near 10 bucks this is an absolute bargain and functions just fine. A great introductory buy to get into this kind of shaving without breaking the bank.

Soft and works great
Very soft bristles. Seems to be a quality brush. Lathers up nicely and is easy to shave with. I like this and shave soap better than shave cream and takes the same amount of time.

Dry it in a holder,
Great, 100% bagger hair is the only way to go.

Same brush is sold by Perfecto
I first tried a Perfecto, and wasn't satisfied so I tried this one. Apparently they're identical, probably made in the same factory. Same weight, same feel when applying lather, etc. I point this out to prevent unsuspecting customers from making the same mistake I did--buying the same brush from different sellers.About the brush, it works but cons: The bristles jab my face a bit while applying lather. And the knot isn't all that thick. Also, broken bristles about half an inch long appear in my sink and shaving mug. All in all, it works but better brushes are out there.

Has to be broken in
I've only used this brush a few times. First time, I was not impressed. Compared to my other badger brush, it didn't seem to hold NEAR as much water, and the bristles were much stiffer. Second use... it held more water, and the bristles had softened a bit. After about uses, the bristles seem about as soft as my other brush, but it still doesn't hold quite as much water. I expect that in after another 4 or 5 uses, it will be about the same as my other brush. It's a great value, but it takes several uses to "condition" it.
