Clock-A-Doodle-Whaaaa--?!
This works and it looks great. You have to twist it all the way back first then to the lesser amount of time for the sake of the longevity of the winder inside.Other than that, is this that difficult of a decision?I mean maybe it contrasts the motif of your home. Maybe you like elephants, you have elephant statues, an elephant coat rack (oh you can hang your coat on it's snout and tusks! I love it!), you have elephant wallpaper, dish towels with little elephants on them.People will see this chicken and say "wait why do you have a chicken?" and you might be embarrassed by the contrast.Tell them you're still a human, you don't deserve their judgment over such trivialities. They are an invited guest in your home.Or maybe you don't have elephants in your house. Maybe you have a bunch of dog things and you have a taxidermized dog in your living room and you have dog hair all over your furniture and on full moons you have a list of places that have Karaoke on each day of the week so you can dress up as a wolfman and sing "Werewolves of London", and your dog (oh yeah you own a dog) has a thing for humans and he has a human doll that he shakes the stuffing out of and he builds model humans that he sells to other dogs that are human enthusiasts and he wears a shirt with pictures of humans.Again,no chickens. It's fine nobody wants to come to your disgusting dog hair covered house.Go ahead and get this chicken!

Adorable, but not as many spots
This timer is adorable, but was not exactly as pictured... The amount of white spots on the body is less and only on the wings. I replaced an old one that looked like the one pictured so that is the only reason I was a little disappointed. Overall, great little timer that works well until you drop it 15+ times but, at the price, you can always replace it!

Cutest timer ever!
The cutest ever. I sort of collect plastic kitchen timers. This one is my favorite. It is adorable. The black hen is much more striking and unusual than the lighter white and yellow colors. Some people here have commented that they don't like the fact that you need to turn the timer past 55 minutes to set it. All similar plastic timers do. If your mom or grandma had one of these style timers (the standard one was white with a red line for the timer), they all work this way. This is 1940s - 1950s technology. :)

Super cute timer but you have to be careful that ...
Super cute timer but you have to be careful that when you rotate it to your chosen time, that it actually starts clicking and counting off the time! Mine seems to sometimes get stuck on the chosen number and not activate itself. When that happens I just nudge it further to start it. Looks great in my kitchen though, so I'll keep it.

Gotta love that chicken!
This is at its heart a very basic wind up timer, but how can't you love the chicken? If you're looking for some fun accent for your kitchen, get it. If you're looking for an Alton Brown level of precision, look elsewhere.

Chicken timer
The chicken timer is cute and looks great on to of my stove but the timer itself is not very loud when it goes off so I can't leave the room until it goes off so more decorative than functional. The price was reasonable and I'm glad I did buy it.

Cute, but barely functional
I like how adorable the timer is, the hen is super cute and vintage looking, but sometimes it doesn't even ring when the time expires. Don't buy it if you need a "real" timer, only if you want a cute accessory for the kitchen.

So-so
It broke easily. Only worked for a couple of weeks. Still use for decoration. It's cute.
