Newly restored special edition! Vic Tayback plays Fred, a plan man in this southern gothic film noir. His idea for the perfect bank robbery contains an element of kidnapping and for that he reaches out to psycho killer Johnny Cabot, played by Johnny Cash. With Cabot holding the wife of the bank’s vice president hostage, Fred figures that he’s a cinch to walk out of the bank with a bag of dough. Cash takes his kidnapper role into a new dimension of dementia. His hopped-up sociopath makes the film’s plot believable and brings an aura of menace to an otherwise small town robbery. Future director Ron Howard is on hand to plan the lovable son of the bank couple and his interference in the plot seems to have dire consequences. This Special Edition allows you to play the film two ways.
