Indian Nations of Wisconsin: Histories of Endurance and Renewal, 2 Edition

Very interesting book from a Native American perspective.
This was a very interesting book about the history of Native Americans in the Wisconsin area, and also their migration to other areas. It was written from the point of view of Native Americans, and discussed environmental struggles with new settlers, mineral, rice, fish, and water resources, as well as struggles between Native American Tribes. I particularly found it interesting to compare with my own family history on a farm, some family migrations/story telling, eventual cranberry harvesting by Native Americans, and the human spirit. It will enrich any future visitation to such areas.

A must read
Great book. So much has been swept under the rug. God forgive us.

Get to know our country’s real history
Well written and researched history of the people who we took our country from. Should be read and discussed in every school K-12

Scholarly, but not enlightening
Lots of information, but not the sort that gives better understanding of this culture after than before reading it.

Excellent history of Wisconsin
It is fair to say that the history of Wisconsin starts with the Native American cultures that inhabited these lands long before westerners moved in. This book does a superb job of telling that history from both a scientific and cultural context (utilizing the spoken history shared by tribal elders).

Indian Nations of Wisconsin
I am finding this fascinating reading, just wish I would have gotten the book that came with the DVD also as Patty Loew is a great speaker. Wish I would have had a history teacher like her in school.
