A New China: An Intermediate Reader of Modern Chinese, Revised Edition (The Princeton Language Program: Modern Chinese) Revised Edition

I studied this book as part of my Mandarin studies and I like its structure a lot. Its different chapters gradually increase vocabulary but deal with different topics that are quite vital to understanding Chinese culture. Learning the whole book would give a student substantial insight to be able to operate in China or understand Chinese people culturally since the book is quite pragmatically written.

This book is required for my next Chinese level college course; it will be my full third year of studying Mandarin next fall! I've already read the first chapter. The authors lay out all of the important aspects of the vocabulary, grammar, and best of all, the chapters have a lot of culture knowledge in them. In addition to the Chinese readings and vocabulary, this book has practice lessons that are mostly from the readings! This book is not for beginners of learning Mandarin. I will have this book with me forever! It will be a true keepsake from my youth!

Content-wise, this book is an amazing resource for second year or intermediate Chinese learners. The lessons are digestible and the grammar and practice sections are useful to your average language learner. I bought a used textbook but I didn't expect the cover do be that messed up. I've never seen a textbook cover bent so many ways 😂 The notes of the previous user are also more obstructive than originally anticipated. I would recommend you buy a new textbook even if you save a few bucks on a used one.

I go it for my chinese class.It was useful. many vocabs and well constructed paragraphs.I won't recommend this for first year students tho

Excellent early intermediate textbook. The e-book was very difficult to read and not suitable to my device. Would not fit to screen and did a poor job with zoom. Clearly just scanned from the textbook and not formatted for amazon fire or other e-reading devices. Terrible quality. Would never recommend.

This product is amazing for learning Mandarin Chinese!

Simply put, I am looking for more challenging material. I need HSK6 level. These books are a disappointing HSK3-4 level. I would like to see a collection of discussions about news headlines.

Decent Book, focuses on reading tho, no audio cd or tracks included, which is a shame because its content is quite strong
