Underrated gem
I remember watching this movie with my mom back in the 90s and finding it hilarious, so I wanted to re-watch this.I will say that after all of these years this movie is still hilarious, especially with the great assemble cast. Bull Murray is still his funny self in here, Randy Quaid is hilarious with his whining and freaking out, Tony Shalhoub is hilarious in here as well, especially with him acting the role of a man who is an immigrant who speaks no English. Even in those scenes you knew exactly what he was saying 😂.Overall this is such a corny and silly movie, but I was laughing my butt off the whole way through.

This review pertains to the Warner Archive Collection blu-ray release
"Quick Change" is a 1990 crime comedy film which was written by Howard Franklin who shared directing duties with Bill Murray who also starred and produced. The talented cast also features Genna Davis (who looks stunning by the way), Randy Quaid, Tony Shalhoub, Jason Robards, Phil Hartman, Stanley Tucci, Philip Bosco and Kurtwood Smith in supporting roles. It was released to solid critical reviews but was a box office failure grossing only 15.3 million against a production budget of 17 million. The basic plot involves Grimm (played by Bill Murray) who robs a Manhattan bank dressed as a clown. Much chaos and hilarity ensues. I have been a big fan of this film ever since I first saw it on VHS way back in late 1990. It is not brought up generally when the filmography of the legendary Bill Murray is concerned which I feel is a shame as his performance is one of his all time best in my opinion and plays to his considerable strengths and then some. Coming in just a bit shy of 89 minutes in length, it has nice pacing and does not overstay its welcome.Warner Brothers finally brings "Quick Change" to blu-ray as part of its Archive Collection imprint sporting what is listed on the back as a brand new master. The film is presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio on a single layer disc utilizing the AVC codec at a beefy bit rate usually staying in the upper 30's. The film looks breathtakingly great on this release with beautiful colors, perfect contrast & black levels, accurate flesh tones and superb detail. Digital noise reduction or enhancement is nowhere to be seen and the film's grain structure is wonderfully resolved. I would bet that this is the best that "Quick Change" has ever looked. Fans should be truly impressed!Sound is presented in 2.0 DTS master audio sounding just as great as the film looks on this release. English subtitles are included for the hearing impaired. The only extra is the film's theatrical trailer. This blu-ray release by Warner Brothers' Archive Collection of "Quick Change" is a must have for fans of the film & Bill Murray. While I would have loved to have seen a full fledged special edition release with tons of extras, the presentation of the film is always the highest priority and this disc knocks that aspect out of the park. Highly recommended!

Hidden Murray Gem
Bill Murray has made some hilarious movies that everyone remembers like Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, and Groundhog Day. Quick Change is classic Murray that rightfully belongs with those aforementioned films but, for some reason, faded rapidly into obscurity. And, as an added bonus for viewers, Quick Change is also a nifty heist film as well.Murray plays a city worker who hatches an ingenious plan to rob a New York City bank while dressed as a clown (the heist's central gimmick has been copied several times in other films, most notably by Spike Lee). The robbery itself goes off without a hitch in the film's first fifteen minutes, leaving Murray and accomplices Geena Davis and Randy Quaid to make their escape from the city while flustered cop Jason Robards tries to catch them.Of course, things go horribly wrong for the robbers after that as they run afoul of every New York City tourist horror story imaginable: gangsters and street punks, cabbies who don't speak English, snippy shop keepers, and rude bus drivers, all of which combine to threaten the timing of the getaway. A lot of this is familiar territory, and this part of the film does drag from time to time (despite a 90-minute overall running time), but the comic talents of Murray and Randy Quaid keep things lively.Murray supplies his usual dry satiric wit, continually finding ways to point out the ridiculous plight he and his gang have gotten themselves into. Naturally, for a movie like this to work, someone has to blow his cool, and the dimwitted Quaid serves as a good blustery and ineffective counterpoint to Murray here. Adding to the fun, the movie skillfully juxtaposes Robard's wildly inaccurate predictions of how the criminals are outwitting his cops with the far more frustrating reality of the mess Murray and company are in.Sadly, this movie had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it run in movie theaters twenty years ago. Fortunately for Murray fans however, this budget-priced DVD offers another chance to see Bill at his best. It's an essential addition to his comic library.

It was OK
Even a bad Bill Murray movie is still pretty good.

Quick Change Moves Fast On Blu-Ray
Warner Archive released this 1990 comedy starring Bill Murray as an amiable, non-menacing bank robber(!) with cohorts Geena Davis and Randy Quaid, whose robbery plan works beautifully, though trying to escape New York City to catch their getaway flight out of the country proves far more complicated, as they are doggedly pursued by veteran police detective Jason Robards. A fine HD upgrade from the 2005 DVD, porting over the theatrical trailer, though sadly nothing new was added(interviews and commentary would have been nice!) , though of course the film is the main thing, and this still funny, original, and fast-moving comedy is well worth having, giving the viewer a nostalgic feel for that time and place.
