Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Brush On Rusty Metal Primer, Flat

This stuff is great. I use it all the time to seal up rust before putting a top coat on.

This is the best affordable oil base primer you can buy in my opinion. I have used this primer on everything over the years and have never ever had a comeback. Brush, spray, or roll on it goes on really nice. It drys evenly and if you need to sand this primer a little you can if you want. The trick is get everything thouroughly clean first before application. I knock all the rust off I possibly can, wash with tide, apply Ospho, wipe on wipe off with Prepsol or panel wipe, and apply this primer in a few light coats. This applies with rustoleum primer or paint. Do not thin greater than 10% use mineral spirits. If you want it to lay out smooth with a brush add a little bit of flood penetrol this will slow drying time yet will help it go on nicer. Penetrol will help with rust too. After it's dry coat it with rustoleum paint and you will have a really nice long lasting durable finish. Great deal on Amazon I was surprised.

this is the best . if you dont mind the color you dont have to to paint over it 10X better than paint dries quickly add thinner to store what you dont use.

Paint seems fine. Packaging really sucks. 1) they put tape over the lids presumably so they can’t come off. That’s obviously a good thing. But it covers all the instructions if you need them (and peels them off if you try to remove the tape from them.) 2) the cans arrive all dented. So they’re either selling dented cans or they need way more protection. Foam? Bubble wrap? Not exactly exotic. But none there. 3) It was clearly damaged in transit. One of the cans was leaking so it was obviously damaged in transit. Fresh, web paint inside the box and on the cans. Had to wipe my hands off when I unpacked. So I got 99.9% of the paint. That’s 4-stars. All good. But really? You guys never learned how to pack something this heavy or fragile? Packing should be zero-stars.

So I actually got a refund on this - why ?? I bought 2 cans and they had small dents - a little leakage at the top on one - and the exterior labels were stained- a little bit of rust on the lids - and they looked like they had been in the back of someone’s garage for the last 10 years. So I took a picture which I can’t find now (this was last summer) - Did not open them so I could return them. Talked to customer service and they refunded my money- and said keep em. - so at this point I transferred the paint to another container - The ironic thing was I ended up not using the paint until this past summer- it was still ok (had it in a plastic jug) I had an old Laundry pole that was quite rusted- I removed what rust I could - painted them up with this and it has end up out in the weather for months. Oh and I liked the color so I did not paint over it. So the paint itself gets a 5 - Hopefully you will get better containers -

I love this paint in all dispenser options. I have a very old gate that needed painting. However everything metal in my yard is corten steel, so i wanted to match it sort of for that 20% continuity. This paint is just terrific!

Excellent to use as a brush on primer for engine building. Torch the block to remove the oils then brush this on, makes rattle can paints stick on much better, lasts longer and very durable

I painted my engine block and used this to prime. It laid down very nice and dried flat and even. Also, it took little to cover, so it goes a long way. I highly recommend this quality primer for your metal projects.

Good quality and easy to use. Only the price is higher than the other bands.

After doing a lot of research on different primers I decided to go with this one. Price was decent. I used it to prime a trailer I had torn down, modified, and rebuilt. It covered well. Dried quickly. I'm not an expert on priming and painting. But I was very satisfied with the results. I would get this primer again.
