The Real... Dean Martin

This 55-track compilation has no business being so utterly enjoyable, from the pop-standards mix of CD1 to the glorious recognisably Dino hits on CDs 2 & 3.There are very few glaring omissions, and one or two inclusions you won't find on some other compilations. One serious omission is his lovely version of Memories Are Made if This, and other regrettably absent tracks are Return to Me, Sway, Let Me Go Lover, and {inexplicably, inexcusably!} the immortal That's Amore.Luckily, I have all those on a separate single-disc comp, but a few of the less interesting tracks here might have been forfeited in their place, for example his too high-pitched version of King of the Road, and a couple of the less essential tracks on CD1, such as Corrina Corrina, an indifferent cover of Bobby Darin's Things, or the forgettable Tik-a-Tee, Tik-a-Tay.Few compilations are perfect, but this comes close enough, with so many great selections from Dino's sixties heyday it would be churlish to quibble too much over what's left out, since what's here is, mostly, a hugely enjoyable experience, Dean's cool-as-a-gentle-breeze Latino lilt as seductive as it ever was, over twenty years after his death.And man, could he sing!

Legacy/Sony have done a fine job in remastering this 3 CD Boxed, classic, original Dean Martin recordings, containing 55 songs in total. I have no problem at all, in recommending this product ... and I'm not even a Dean Martin fan!

generally the sound quality is pretty poor with the backing singers sounding like the chipmunks.!!dino must surely be one of the laziest superstars ever he barely moves out of neutral on many renditions
