For the price, a great hoist
Value: absolutely a good value for the investmentIntegrity: I think it should last quite a while in that it will be used only 2 times a year, up in the late fall and back down in the spring.Assembly: my mistake was to over-think it. It is actually extremely easy. Take the time to read through the entire process and envision how it will attach to your ceiling and it should go up quickly. The brackets that attach to the ceiling are surface mounted-this concept may help you initially.

Lag bolts broke using impact gun. Be aware!
The dual pulley system on the hoist made it very easy to lift my kayak to the 10' ceiling height in my garage. What I did not like were the lag bolts that came with the hoist to secure the (2) brackets to the rafters. They need to be upgraded! Three out of the four bolts snapped while installing using my impact gun to secure the bolts and brackets to the rafters. The head of the bolts stayed in the bracket and partly in the wood after they snapped and never fell out. If I was a rookie, I would have assumed that the bolts were secure and continued with the installation which would have cause injury to myself and damage to my kayak when the brackets lags pulled out. Ugh! What I did was, increase the size of the holes in the brackets to accept a larger diameter bolt and continued with the installation. I am now satisfied that my kayak is now, safely secured in place.

Works great, but can be tricky to install for newcomers
I used this to hang a luggage box on the ceiling in my garage. I'll just say that it works great and I'm really happy with it. My two comments for those looking at this are to be patient with the install and to make sure you have adequate ceiling height. Whatever you hang will hand lower (8-10 inches) than you expect to account for the mount and hooks. The instructions could be better, the difficulty comes in feeding the rope through the mounts. I had to watch a YouTube video to figure it out. However, all in all, it wasn't too difficult and maybe someone smarter than me can figure out how to run the rope appropriately quicker than me.

Works smoothly
I got this to be my bike stand and repair stand. It works good. I determined that the hooks should be 32” apart then attached the brackets to a piece of 2x4 with 1/4 x 1 1/2 inch lag screws. Then I attached the 2x4 to another board I had screwed to the rafters. Then I carried the whole assembly up to the brackets. To thread the rope I found a kayak lift video on Youtube that showed how. I replaced the lag screws but found the Powerfly rope to be better than anything in the stores. The hooks are covered with durable plastic. The rope lock works good. If you are able to pull it a little the opposite way, it releases.

DO NOT PURCHASE
This has to be one of the cheapest hangers I have ever seen. 2 of the bolts broke mounting. Went to hang my 90 lb fishing kayak on it and it will not pull up 3/4 the way even with me hanging on the rope and I’m a large guy. Put my cheap one on there and I do not trust this junk one bit. I was had on the purchase of this. Make sure you buy another one not this… More then likely going to fall and damage what’s underneath.

It's just OK
The hoist claims to have a capacity of 125 lbs, but does not. Once received, it clearly states a maximum capacity of 100 lbs, which was disappointing as I now have to remove seats from my fishing kayak to reduce the weight before lifting. The bolts for attaching the brace are low quality. The head of the bolt came clean off as I tried to attach the very first one and I had to run to the hardware store to replace them all with something better quality. The nylon rope is junk. It immediately frayed at the ends, which didn't impact the functionality, but did nothing to inspire confidence for holding a 15 foot kayak over my head. This one is also priced at double the same item from other vendors, which I paid thinking it had a higher capacity, which it doesn't.

Easy to install and use
Very straightforward installation and easy to use. I have 3 of them installed in my garage for my two kayaks and a canoe.

Great way to store my 10' kayak!
Overall I really like this kayak storage hoist.PROS: 1) The metal hardware and other parts of the pulley mechanism are sturdy and seem to be well made.2) Once the pulley lock is in place, I have little concern that it will slip. I did purchase a small cleat to anchor the extra rope at a higher angle, because the lock disengages if the rope is straight down, like any pulley would.3) It makes use of ceiling space to store my kayak and is definitely a space saver in my garage.4) The price is so reasonable compared to other kayak storage options.CONS:1) The rope is very poor quality. It is woven but one of the multiple woven strands will be cut clean through in places. It was still strong enough hoist my kayak, but the cut parts would get stuck in the holes of the pulley and made it difficult to move up and down. Today I went out and purchased a 1/4" X 100' polypropylene rope from Home Depo for $11.94 rated for a 157lb working load limit. (75' would have been enough but was not available and nylon rope is not an option because it stretches).2) The directions on how to string the rope through the pulley were difficult to follow. I had to pull up a few U-tube videos and after quite some time, I got it to work smoothly. After restringing the whole pulley system with my new home depo rope, it works smoothly and I am very happy with it.

Very good buy
My fishing kayak is quite heavy. System seems strong enough. I’ve added a safety line, just in case.
