A Walk in the Boreal Forest

Good decriptive read
I used this for teaching in our homeschool about the Boreal region in Canada. The illustrations were really very nice. The content was thorough, but not boring. I would like others in the series for an interesting, general overview of various biomes. Used books are a big help as well as that good, old Amazon Prime. (:

informative and interesting
This book is informative in an interesting way for children to learn about a Boreal Forest. This is not a topic that is studied much in school. This book made one want to read about the Boreal Forest.

Great info
I think this book was well written in describing one of the least discussed types of forests. Rounds out any classroom library.

Great book for kids
I found this entire series to be excellent and informative. I love that this book is filled with such beautiful photographs and the text is so rich and descriptive. I swear when you read these books you almost feel like you are right there in the area being described. My son and I have found these books an entertaining way to improve his science courses. I definitely recommend these books to any parent who has a child studying climate and habitat.

one error
This is an informative and well-written book, with attractive photographs and in-depth information. However, as a resident of the boreal forest area of North America, I differ with the author's claim that bobcats are the "only cat" that lives in boreal forests. What about mountain lions (aka cougars) who also live in the boreal forest? I suppose that explaining the differentiation between lynx and bobcats might have been too in-depth for this book, but mountain lions deserve explanation.Any child who lives in the boreal forest area of North America would immediately wonder why mountain lions aren't considered residents of the boreal forest. As a child, I was taught at an early age how to react to a mountain lion, and my children have been taught the same. They are a known presence here. I would like the author to explain (or amend) her statement in future editions of this book.
