How to solve Sudoku: A Step-by-step Guide (52 Brilliant Ideas)

****I have read quite a few Sudoku books trying to figure out strateies. Most books say the same things---they just have different covers; the ones that are bigger have more puzzles (and these are readily available all over the place).This book is:Short and sweet, easy to understand (for those people who don't want to devote their life to learning Sudoku!)Just enough practice.Walks you through some of the puzzles step-by-step (this is really helpful).My favorite book so far, plus it's cheap!Unlike some of the other reviewers, I didn't find it hard to understand at all.I wanted more strategies and techniques, or I'd have given it a "5"...such as it is, it is a "4+" and well worth buying.****

Luckily it wasn't too expensive bc I bought it used. It did help me a little bit, but I really wanted more advanced techniques. I was very much a beginner and I have ADHD, so it helped me walk through what to do in a systematic way. I'm still on the search for a book with more advanced techniques. I can't really decide if I would recommend it. The other beginner books didn't get great reviews either, so not sure if this is better or the same as those.

I just started playing Sudoku. Everything I do to learn helps. This book was very clear and explained how to do and why it is done. One thing I found is to go slow and finish sooner.

Exactly as advertised

First, this book does not contain 52 methods for solving Soduku puzzles — essentially, it contains, maybe, six. There are 52 "chapters" but.... Having said that, if you've not worked a Soduku puzzle or you have worked them but haven't figured out a systematic way to work Soduku puzzles, then this is a good book. On the other hand, if you already scan rows and columns, if you know the significance of doubles and triples in rows/columns/boxes, if you already eliminate impossibles, then this book is not for you.

This book has good basic instructions for solving Sudoku puzzles. It only gets 4 stars because it didn't go beyond the early intermediate stages and I would have liked an explanation of more advanced strategies. It doesn't get less than 4 stars because it does an excellent job of teaching what it does teach.I've been doing Sudoku puzzles for years, and even I found some things in the book that I hadn't quite thought of exactly in the way they explained. My strategies have changed as a result of reading it. If you are a beginning you will find beginning and intermediate puzzles easy to do if you follow what the book teaches.

True the title, this book does a good job walking the reader through each practice problem. I would recommend it for beginning and intermediate users.

I excel at logic games. I had hoped to learn something useful with this book. It advertises itself to be a step-by-step guide. However, about half way through the book, on page 33, it says, "Since you're now more familiar with the ideas, we'll give less explanation in what follows."Then it proceeds to just give statements telling you that certain numbers belong in certain boxes of the exemplar puzzle, without telling you how the author arrived at that conclusion.I would not recommend this book to anyone. It leaves a lot to be desired.

I was expecting it to cover some of the more advanced solving techniques, but it doesn't.

I can now solve quite a range of Sudoku puzzles. Easy reading. Good advise and step by step guide. I never thought that I could do it.

Prompt delivery and very helpful although for seasoned Dudoku solvers like us we skipped the first basic chapters and found the rest helpful

Wasn't quite what expected. I thought the information to solve the more difficult puzzles was not help enough. Easy and Medium ones OK.
