Light-weight review guide, but mostly uesless in the end.
I think that this should help me to pass my CCNP exams in the future.Edit:I just failed my ccnp exam. Why? There was so much material that was not covered by this nor the CCNP Routing and Switching SWITCH 300-115 Official Cert Guide.I was scoring very high on the practice exams from these, and the flash cards practice (86%-90%) but failed the real thing. These materials do not provide enough depth for what is actually on the exam!

POWERFUL EXAM PRACTICE PACK!!
Are you a current and aspiring network engineer? If you are, then this book is for you! Authors Denise Donohue and Brent Stewart, have done an outstanding job of writing a book that is designed to help you prepare for the three exams in the CCNP Routing and Switching certification.Authors Donohue and Stewart, begin by providing a review of basic IP, TCP and UDP operations, such as fragmentation and windowing. Then, the authors cover the IPv6 address format, ways for hosts to acquire their addresses, and IPv6 routing. They continue by describing how to configure and verify RIPv2 and RIPng for IPv6. Then, the authors present an in-depth description of EIGRP for IPv6 operation and configuration, including neighbor establishment and route exchange. They then describe OSPF's structure and operation. Next, the authors examine various methods of controlling routing updates, such as route maps, prefix lists, and distribute lists. They continue by giving an overview of BGP operation and basic configuration. Then, the authors examine ways to secure the routing infrastructure and the routers themselves; as well as, the data transmitted. They then describe useful network management services, such as SNMP, logging, debugging, and NetFlow. Next, the authors review the basics of LAN switching and Layer 2 protocols, such as CDP and LLDP. They continue by giving an overview of VLANs, along with port and VLAN roles. Then, the authors cover the design configuration, and troubleshooting of the EtherChannels. They then go into detail on Spanning Tree, Rapid Spanning Tree, and Multiple Spanning Tree. Next, the authors look at HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP. They continue by covering the routing between VLANs, by using a router and a multiplayer switch. Then, the authors examine ways in which the LAN might be attacked and its security compromised. They then cover design considerations for small, medium and large campuses. Next, the authors focus on minimizing time-to-repair. They continue by describing the troubleshooting critical pieces: Spanning Tree, VLANs, InterVLAN routing, and gateway redundancy. Then, the authors describe issues around IP services and starts, with a discussion of IP addressing. Finally, the authors cover troubleshooting link layer connectivity, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP routing protocols and router performance. This excellent book is often used by students before beginning their exam preparation, in order to find out which areas they are weak in. Others, use this great book after studying or taking the course as a concise learning resource during their final preparation for the exam.

Great Study Tool!
I highly recommend this product during preparation for the CCNP examinations, especially as one approaches their examination dates. The book provides a great way to quickly refresh the details of individual topics in a clear, concise manner. Given the books small size, I carried it with me and reviewed key topics at lunch or during short breaks.I actually had worse luck with the online flashcard system. The content was good, but I experienced several glitches in the user interface. Sometimes the web page froze. Other times, it began showing the answers as I moved to new questions, before I had a chance to answer the question.Even given these issues, the book in and of itself is worth the purchase price, and is a great study resource.

Recommended Purchase
The quick reference and flash cards were absolute necessities for passing my exams. Having the flash cards online means updates if errors are found or new cards can be added. I would highly recommend this package along side the Cert Guides. They compliment each other and helped me better understand the topics of the exams.

A great revision aid
A great revision aid. Its a shame the flash cards aren't supplied printed but you can't have it all. It seemed to cover almost everything I found in my exams. Be aware the exams are heavily sim/simlet based and you need to do a bit of googling to get examples of what to expect.

You'll need more than this to prepare for the exams
Good revision guide but practice pack is stretching it a bit too far IMO. Lack breath of syllabus content
