This book is an excellent read for anyone who wants to get a feel for over 40 years of life with a child on the Autism Spectrum. Like any good author’s work, it easily draws the reader into the family’s world. Masterfully told with a practical, yet poetic and sensitive heart, it’s a very engaging story full of wonder and humor. Here is an intimate tale of an average family that happens to have a differently-abled member, as well as the plight of a person with Autism finding his own fit in the larger world. It is a remarkable tale of a family’s resilience in adapting to unexpected adversity, by finding ways to accommodate each member’s needs while preserving individual personhood.Inevitably, this is every mother’s story—the one who is the family nurturer, and giver of roots and wings to her children. But she is also, with her husband, her Autistic son’s legal guardian, champion, and public representative.

I purchased the subject book from you to see what Autism really is. The book really enlightened me as to what it is and the struggles all members of a family go through. I commend the author and family for trying to get the best for their son and staying together through thick and thin. This book would be helpful to families who face or facing Autism up close and personal.

This is an amazing account of surviving autism. I know the family personally so it was very meaningful. Looking forward to the next book. Her examples are very vivid. It breaks my heart that this family has this burden.

This beautifully written book is heartwarming, heart wrenching, loving and forthcoming. The author shares the love, joy, successes and challenges of her child with autism spectrum, living at home with family, attending school, graduating from high school and transitioning into adulthood and work experiences. This book is a gift.
