Useful, Playable, But Not Great
I've been using this book in my lessons, playing with my teacher, as I re-learn violin after a long hiatus. In general, the songs are accessible and a reasonable resemblance to the original pieces. BUT... there are some quirks and glitches. For example, rather than use consistent notation through an entire piece, they'll introduce the desired notation and style, then substitute a letter or symbol, or just put a footnote on the page to "continue playing like this." It can be very confusing. Also, they tend to only annotate a repeat point without clearly showing to where the repeat jumps (it's even caused confusion for my experienced, professional musician teacher at times). As such, I can only give this 3 stars. It's a pity, because with a few revisions to clarify unneeded shorthand and footnotes, it could be a really great book. Oh, well.

Excellent duets
I am a violinist/teacher. I like to get my students started, as soon as they can, learning how to sight-read and play chamber music - so that they learn to listen to each other. These duets are perfect for that purpose.

Better suited for Suzuki level book 2
Bought this to play with a student of mine. It's a bit more difficult/higher level than I anticipated.

Introducing beginners to chamber music
My daughter has been studying for 4 years now, but theย Suzuki: Duets for Violins ย aren't really duets so much as they are a continuo for the 2nd violin. I want to get her more comfortable with true chamber music, with all instruments playing an equal part, and these duets are a great start. The skill levels accommodate beginning through intermediate students, are clearly notated for easy reading, and are actually pretty charming pieces! When she started studying, I always hoped that some day we could play duets together. Boccherini or Bartรณk would be my ideal, but we all have to start somewhere, and this is a great way to start. Recommended!

Exciting for a beginner
Music was easy to read and fun to experience as a second year student. Pieces gave a feeling of accomplishment

which makes it nice โ I can โpassโ the melody
I am an older adult who has been taking violin lessons for several years. My violin teacher thought I was ready for duets, so we selected this as one of the books to try. The pieces are true duets, which makes it nice โ I can โpassโ the melody, and continue to work on the same tune and then โpassโ the harmony, as well. They are not equally easy โ some are more difficult than others, but none are advanced.

Grade 3-5 I would say
If you play above grade 5 I would say you will find this book "easy" however it would be great if you where tutoring a more beginner player, and you can teach them whilst playing along with them

Easy Baroque duets
It was just what I wanted. I have violin lessons and have recently started playing duets. I particularly love the baroque period. I would recommend it to anyone wishing to play easy to intermediate duets.
