How to Be a Superhero (Little Golden Book)

Bought 3 of these as a favor for my sons birthday party and included them in a Superhero Training kit that we sent home with the kids. Fun and rhyming! Super cute!

I've never met a Little Golden Book I didn't like!I gave How to Be a Superhero book as a gift. Along with this book I gave Rio Rand 5 Pack Cartoon Dress Up costumes satin capes with felt masks. What more fun can there be than reading a book and then acting out the characters. The Four Year Old Birthday Boy was so excited to see a story about SuperHero's, something he's really into lately!

I bought this to give to my 5 year old grandson for Christmas. He is going to love it!! The story is written in a rhyming fashion and it is just the cutest story. I think after its read to him a few times, he will be reading it on his own in no time at all. I highly recommend this book for any child who wants to be a superhero!

Cute book to give as a gift in conjunction with a mask and cape. Purchased for a few birthdays for boys age 3-4 and they both loved the story! Were buzzing around the house in no time!

Golden Books can be tricky because there's such a broad range in their prose. How to Be a Superhero is definitely on the youngest end of the spectrum, a good adjacency to  Big Heroes!  and  Flower Power! , with just one to two sentences per page. This is perfect for those littlest superheroes who are getting into comics but don't necessarily have character affinities yet.How to Be a Superhero chronicles Captain Mighty stopping crime and a young boy who wants to be like him. So Captain Mighty asks the boy what his super-powers will be, they go through a quick list of "fly or fast" "quills or webs" etc, and when Turbo Troll attacks the mayor, the boy saves the day and becomes the Silver Cyclone ("cyclone", btw, the most difficult vocabulary word in the book).Now any kids older than about 5 are going to want to know where the super-powers come from, and why plodding through a laundry list suddenly makes the boy a superhero, but these aren't questions most 2 - 4yo's will ask, which is who this is geared towards. It's not the most amazing or engaging story, and it's unlikely to be a favorite for long as your little ones grow into  more interesting characters , but for that snapshot in time, like first steps or first words, this first superhero book is perfect.

I don't do birthday cards because they're a waste so I always get a book and make it my card (because it's basically the same prices as a poorly written card anyway!) This one was PERFECTLY for a 2-year old, newly promoted to big brother! Went perfectly with the set of superhero capes and masks I got him as well! And the story and rhyming is darling as well!

My 2 and 3 year olds love this book! It’s catchy and cute. I like that it’s not tied to a specific super hero.

Sue Fliess rhyming is cute and fast-paced and will enchant young children along with the cute illustrations. Reads like a rhyming comic book of superheros.

Es una guía de cómo ser un super héroe, presentando diversas opciones para ello, desde usar capa o escudo, el tipo de superpoder, etc. La historia es en rima. El libro es de una pasta de cartón rígida de tamaño perfecto para manos pequeñas.

I can't believe that it actually works! As soon as I followed all of the instructions I became a super hero! I gave up my job and now I go around the streets wearing my awesome latex costume and swinging from the rooftops.
