buy quality
easy enough to install on my M1A. however, it would not stay tightened. continually comming loose while shooting. The screw that comes with it, is junk. very easy to strip the threads. Overall, I would suggest. That you spend extra money to purchase a springfiel device. This one sucks. Save yourself the trouble and buy quality.

The retaining screw on the new rail mount should be snugged to 18 in-pounds with a torq wrench or as tight as you feel comfortab
I purchased this and found it to be a fairly well designed scope mount for my M1a1 Scout. I believe it will produce the 4-6 inches of eye relied I am seeking. Buyers should be aware, however, that you will need to remove the stripper clip on the weapon before you can install the rail for mounting optics. This is a fairly straight forward procedure once you remove the trigger housing and bolt assembly that must me removed in order to get to the steel pin holding the stripper clip in place (you can see it by looking into the (3/32 inch hole in the top of the stripper clip). A hammer and steel punch of the size mentioned will be needed as well. Save the pin and stripper clip, since these are original parts of your weapon. The dove tail part of your mount will slide into place and take the place of your stripper clip. The retaining screw on the new rail mount should be snugged to 18 in-pounds with a torq wrench or as tight as you feel comfortable with. The second (bigger) screw (torqued the same) and the seating wedge designed into the mount work together to make this light weight mount wiggle proof. I have not been to the range to shoot a couple of rounds yet (hence only 4 stars), but I think this mount should get the job done. This info is available on the web, as well....see mounting scopes for the m1a1, for example. Hope this helps.

Loved this mount for the money
I shoot this mounted on my M1A Socom in 3 Gun Matches. I just won my first trophy in the Heavy Metal Optics Division. Loved this mount for the money. All you name brand purists can go pound sand. :)

crappy mount. But what can you expect for the price
This is crap. No matter what you do, you Can’t get the alignment slots to match up. When you do, the scope mount is crooked. I’ve tried for hours to get this thing to work and it won’t. Save your money

Yes You can reach out & touch something Far Away.
After purchasing a Brand New M-14, I noticed it had the ability for a scope, well the next step was Amazon.com, who had what I was looking for, as a Sniper in the Military of many many years ago I wanted to have the capability to reach out and touch "something" far away. With the ability of the M-14 to strike long range targets especially with soft nosed projectiles I now possess that capability.
