Russell Athletic Men's Big & Tall Short Sleeve T-Shirt

I've always been a big (fat) guy and have gotten bigger through the years. It's become tough to find clothes that fit (who's fault is that?... I'm blaming the chocolate milk). Which is why I'm now committing myself to exercising (lost 11 pounds) but in the meantime I need clothes to wear and I don't like spending money on clothes but it's a necessity. So here I am shopping again.Maybe it's just me being cheap but I still think $15 is a lot for a t-shirt (then lose weight and buy smaller shirts... you gotta pay for all that material big boy). Ignore my conscience. On with the review. Well I just got it today. I ordered the 6x navy blue (biggest size they had) and it fits great. Next time I think I'll get a 5x. I like the room but it may be just a little more room than I needed. It feels light weight and very comfortable. I probably won't use the pocket because I don't want to stretch it out over time going in and out of it with my big hands.I'll update this review later if necessary. Still have to wash it and see if there's any shrinkage and fading. But as of now I like it and plan to buy another.Note to Russell Athletic: Please make more colors and have them for all sizes. Don't miss out on extra money because you have a lack of supply. Or at least amazon does. Now that I'm older I like plain shirts (and not so much flashy stuff or things with names and designs) and I want more colors.Update 2/21/2012 10:12pm:Update already? Yeah already... I've been wearing it since I got and it seems like it's going to be one of those shirts that gathers lent quick and show it very loudly. I'll see. Good thing I already have one of those sticky paper lent brushes.Update 5/4/2012 12:48pmThe most exciting thing today is probably that the Avengers are coming out or anti-drm day but I'm writing about my two new t-shirts. Yes I ordered two more in 5X (now that I've lost 25 more pounds) and I probably should've went with 4X but hey I like the room. I got them today. Colors are dark gray and royal blue. Just cancelled the order for the black one at 6X and ordered a red one and a different black one from russell without the pocket for 12 bucks on amazon.

This is probably my favorite T-shirt, but this version has a neck that is far tighter than the others, so it's a sizing/quality control problem that often happens ... but shouldn't ... with mass produced garments. Reliable Fit is a top priority when customers begin trust a brand, as they don't have to worry about returning it. If it's off, like in this case it's too tight around the neck, you try to stretch it & end up busting some of the threads holding it together. Same goes for the arms, and the increase in arm length & fit.

These shirts are nice and soft, though a little bit on the thin side than what I am used to (Dickie's work shirt, Hanes Beefy T). However, the extra length more than makes up for that and they are softer than the Beefy T's as well. Plumber's crack is a thing of the past, much to the happiness of me, my family, co-workers and any previous innocent victim within sight of me bending over for any particular reason. We live in a polite society, so be polite and cover your crack with Russell Athletic Men's Big & Tall Basic Short Sleeve Solid Crew Neck T Shirts. Available in a variety of colors.Update- I removed a star because when ordering new shirts I decided to get some navy and grey instead of the black this time. The grey was fine but the navy was MUCH too short. Even though it says XLT on the shirt, it is no longer than the regular size. What a rip off.

I usually wear an 'extra large tall' (I like my shirts a little loose fitting esp.for summer wear) and these fit as expected. No problems with the fit. However I do notice a difference in the material from a previous purchase of this brand from a local clothing store. Even given all the washings it has gone through over the years, the material has a different weave and has a softer drape to it (even when it was new). The material on the new purchases is stiffer by comparison and does not have that free flowing drape.(But then in which sector of business has quality improved over the years? Certainly not by overseas outsourcing.) "T" shirts from the specialty shops may cost double what these do and the quality may be a step above the Russell Athletic "T" shirts, but for everyday wear these are great and I expect a long life for these shirts.

I've been wearing these shirts for years and was disappointed when Sears stopped carrying them. I placed two orders for them in recent months from Amazon and received drastically different products. The first order shirts were made in China and India. the Chinese shirts were exactly as expected, a heavy weight material, wide loose fit but not too long. The Indian shirts were similar construction with a tighter fit but acceptable. The next order were all made in Bangladesh. The material was MUCH thinner. The fit was what would be described as athletic, much narrower and longer. While laid on top of the Chinese shirts the Bangledesh shirts were over five inches longer and three inches smaller across the chest. No way even comparable or could even be the same size. There was no Russell patch at the hem of the Bangledesh made shirts which is clearly in the description. They were returned. So depending on which shirts you actually get, they are either great shirts or absolute junk.

Basically you get no instructions except a little picture for guidance. However this model seems to be the same internally as the retroflag nespi case and there are videos on YouTube of how to connect that one properly. I also was missing a screw and was given two more of the small ones that I didn't need. Minor things but there you go.Otherwise, it looks great with that delicious matte black and it functions great. Also, it comes with a pretty nice mini screwdriver.Although, remember that when you plug it in the first time, you have to actually hit the power button to turn it on. I got so used to my raspberry pi turning on automatically that I took the whole thing apart to investigate what I must have done wrong only to realize I just didn't press the power button...
