Spawn Origins Collection Vol. 1

I was actually around when Todd MacFarlane arrived on the comic scene, scrambling to buy the first issue of his new Spider Man series (which I still have...but then again so do several million other people which makes it pretty worthless).Spawn is an example of why great artists should not be allowed to write their own comics but the one thing I thought I would never say about Spawn is that the art...stinks!! Self indulgent, unrealistic and careless art which by todays standards totally sucks.Read this only if you want to get a feeling of how a man considered a genius, fought for the creative freedom to do exactly what he wanted and to the disappointment of a generation...totally blew it

This is a fantastic collection of graphic novels detailing the adventures of Spawn; one of the newly created characters in the 90s from arist/writer Todd McFarlane, who previously had a seminal spiderman run at Marvel.The book is a streamlined collection of the original series comic book, showcasing the best of Spawn whilst still maintaining a coherent and understandable story line.For those who only remember that awful movie, I highly recommend you read this and forgot all about that car crash of a movie.For those who grew up reading comics such as x men and justice league in the 90s, with colourful and wildly imaginative characters, you're gonna love it.I'm already on volume 3 and can't wait for number 4.

Great to see spawn in digital form ......means I can read one of my favourite comics wherever I go....however was a bit dissolution find that it has been edited and a key plot point ..which is the first time we see Span able to transform in to human flesh and realised he can only become a white male when he is black...disappointing

after reading and being impressed by McFarlands other work, I decided to go back to where it all began. A character I heard about, got intrigued by his origin story and fell in love with the art work and story straight away. I was so.impressed that I ordered book 2 straight away and will probably own the entire series by the end of the year.

Everyone i know does not know spawn was it a 90's thing that died away? Maybe but what a wonderful collection of comics, while i am not the biggest comic fan i do like spawn because i grew up with him its nice to be able to own the books in these volumes again!
