Ended up requesting a refund
I recently passed my 220-1001 exam but purchased this book to help with my 220-1002 studies since there is not a lot of material out yet but ultimately ended up returning it because of mistakes/oversights.1. There is a mismatch with the practice tests where question 1 will be labeled as question 1 with answers of 1, 2, 3, or 4 however, flipping to the answers shows the question as question 1 with answers of a, b, c, or d. Simple oversight but concerning.2. On page 893 where it is talking about the .cpl for firewall, it is listed as "filewall.cpl" which does not exist. The correct .cpl for firewall configuration is "firewall.cpl".I was willing to live with cross-referencing the answers but incorrect information is unacceptable which is why I requested a refund.

Changing My Opinion of "Will Not Prepare You"
What I originally said: "Bought this book thinking it had everything I needed to know in order to pass. Studied from it for 6 hours a day everyday for 2 months and failed the exam. Most of the questions in the exam were about terms and concepts weren't even mentioned by what was in this book. Also have 6 years experience working in IT helpdesk/troubleshooting role."Edit (11/15/2020): I have since learned (after getting A+, N+ and Security+ and gotten a good job in IT) that it's never a good idea to put all your eggs into one basket like this. It is a good study guide, but it won't take you all the way. No study guide will, especially if you've never taken an exam before. There is no silver bullet. So I would now say it's fine to get and study, as long as it is along with other sources to corroborate and get a fuller, more accurate context and perspective. Personally, I found Professor Messer, and Mike Meyers and/or Jason Dion's Udemy courses to be extremely invaluable. Each source has their own emphases and blind-spots, so it's important to use more than one so you can get better context and perspective and see what is a recurring themes overlap and what is a one off, or what one source missed. Also, I was under a lot of personal and financial pressure and stress at the time I took the exam, and when I didn't pass, I took it out on this book, mostly misguidedly I am now finding. Upgrading to 4 stars. 4 because it (along with every other source) lets on that it is the only thing you need to study. It would be helpful if it explained what I did here: that you should use multiple sources.

If you are looking to learn in detail, get this book.
I purchased the kindle edition and used it as my primary source to study for the A+ exams. This book not only preperares you for the exams but also for real world scenarios, this is why you'll find information that goes beyond simply passing the exams which is a plus in my opinion. You get a total of four practice tests, two for the 1001 and two for the 1002. These practice tests were actually harder and more technical than the real A+ based on my personal experience. I got a score of 817 for the 1001 and a score of 789 for the 1002.I'd also recommend complementing the book with Jason Dion's practice tests. These practice tests are closer to the actual exams but like I said before, the Sybex practice tests take you beyond "just passing" the exams.

Excellent, but may not get you what you need for the A+ Exam
I used this book and other material online trying to avoid ponying up for the CompTia expensive materials - and when I pulled down their practice test, yikes - there was all kinds of information that was not in this book, and I realized I might not pass - and indeed, I was short a few percentage points. So I ended up working from the Comptia self-paced Learn and Practice modules as their reasoning is from their materials. So by all means enjoy this material but it may not be sufficient without understanding how the certification questions work and what information they are expecting you to have. (I passed it on the 2nd try...)

Thorough, but not an easy read
I think that this book is thorough but hard to follow. You might have a difficult time getting through it if you are new to IT or like things laid out in a straight forward way. It could have been written with half as many words. Also, the online test bank is not easy to get to. It is a maze to get registered. Overall, it will help me pass the exam, but I wish I had tried a different book.

Interactive online learning tools included in the book in difficult to find
I decided to purchase this training martial over other options because of the additional on-line support and test questions. I assumed I better buy a new book, in order to have access the the extra features this publisher was including. However the included instructions and web links are broke, and after 3 weeks I still cant access any of the interactive online learning tools that was suppose to be part of the purchase. Very disappointing.... UPDATE- With a ton of effort I found it with google and under Wiley site. Not Sybex. Otherwise happy with book.

Great book but...
When I play this on my echo dot, it only reads up until page after 'Performance Based Questions' right before the initial assessment tests at the beginning and just stops. Anyone else have an issue with this? And before anyone retorts with ' stop being lazy and just read it yourself' or whatnot, I like to have these books verbally read while I sleep.

Huge book Huge information
Firstly when you receive this book you'll be shocked at just how thick it is. Think two argos' catalogs stuck together. The content is clearly set out in the 1001 and 1002 separate sections allowing you to to just focus on the exam you are currently studying for. While some of the material can be quite dry the authors make frequent successful attempts to inject humour and anecdote's that back up the material. The summary sections and notes clearly indicate which parts you really should focus on for the A+ exam and what is background information. On the most part the content is clear, accurate and up to date for 2020 which was an issue with some other books, and includes modern and current standards needed for the up to date exam. The print quality is generally good (although pictures are in black and white) the paper is quite thin but this is a compromise you have to make with this huge tome of a book (1600 pages!) able to fit inside your house.-1 for the online portion provided by "Wiley.com" refusing to accept my code to access the "online practice exams" this was annoying but not a dealbreaker as the book contains paper based versions and there being a wide number of free alternatives such as examcompass to study the same material and it was not part of my decision making process in buying the book.Overall if you are studying for the A+ exams I would recommend this as a great way to brush up your knowledge and make notes ready to go into your exams.

Comprehensive and clearly written
During lockdown I signed up for an on-line Comptia A+ course. After a couple of the modules I felt I need an alternative resource to support my study. A brief browse through the shelves of Amazon led me to this tome. I have found in clearly written and easy to understand. The end of chapter review questions are great for reinforcing learning, and the "exam essentials" from each chapter is a very helpful feature.Only issue is that for me (in the UK) the link to the "Comprehensive Online Learning Environment" gives me an error. Which I think means I can't get my money off the exam vouchers.

Happy with the book
I find this book very useful preparing to the Comptia A+ exams, along with other non-book sources (I also learn through online course). It is a thick and heavy book to hold in hand for a long time, but if you want every information in one book, thats the "price". According what I have read already I must say that it is easy to read/understand despite english is not my native language. It might be a help for me that I am familiar with PCs.Comparing the knowledge I get for my money: Absolutely worth it. I would recommend it.

Not for beginners, please avoid
If you are a beginner to IT do not purchase this book, this book over complicates things by try to be sophisticated and less straight to the point, it not a good read and I have found better alternatives

Book Quality
I was really worried about if this book would be a hard read, so far I have seen a massive improvement with the knowledge that I’ve retained. I’m confident it will help me pass my 1001-1002 exams
