Good book for the basics on how to be a true, Godly gentleman… a dying breed it seems!If you are considering buying this for a teen one warning: there is a chapter on the JOYS of drinking and how to drink responsibly.I had my husband read it first.As adults we can certainly see the value in a nice glass of wine or a cold beer.We bought it for our grandson not knowing about that chapter but now I’m saving it until he’s 21.A teen may overlook the “drink responsibly “ part and be enticed to start drinking early.Would make a great college graduation gift, I think.Easy, fast read.

This book starts out good and goes on to become great, a true must read for men of all ages, and for all faiths. The author has put together a roadmap that calls into mind what men have always been for many, many thousands of years, and still are in some cultures. Wonder why men don't act like heroes and guardians for their families? This book and the truths that it relates has the answers as to how and why we got to where we are today, why this can't work, and how to become the kind of man that is fit for God's purpose for us, one that is dear to God's heart. The easiest five star review that I ever gave in about 20-years, and probably the book that most deserved it. Thanks to Sam Guzman for having the good sense to know what to write, the courage to write it, and the grace to live it.

I truly enjoyed this book! I have been following Sam's website, The Catholic Gentleman, for several years and I was excited to see his new book with the same name. I think this is material which will be very useful for men who are trying to live authentic, virtuous lives. I have had the pleasure of meeting Sam and I can say he is a great man who deeply cares about others and is an extremely devout soul. I know he would like to use this book as a tool for evangelization and to help men reexamine their priorities in life. Regarding the rough edges of the book as noted by another reviewer - that is a style which I have noticed on many books these days and does not bother me at all. My book cover (which is quite useful as a bookmark) is also aligned properly and I'm sure Amazon would gladly send you a new and corrected copy. I highly recommend this book! I have not done any other Amazon reviews but I felt compelled to do this so that many more men should know about Sam's new book.Sam, keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to many more books/articles from you!

Most books of spirituality try to make men think, pray, and feel like women. Men are different and need to act accordingly.

It was the title of this book that fascinated me. Just the thought that in this day and age of "toxic masculinity," it was fascinating that someone would defend masculinity for what it truly is and put it in the wrapping of the rarely used term: Gentleman! One of the first things that set in my thoughts, and stayed with me as I read, was that Sam Guzman was presenting this whole thing as something "Noble!" Why in yesteryears did we turn to the stories of the Knights, the Superheroes of the Marvel Comic Books, and the shows like the Long Ranger and Zorro? These are still legendary figures. They represented people, mostly men with a few exceptions, that we looked up to as models of the type we wanted in our lives. They displayed "goodness" and represented a measure of "living for others" and sacrificing to do things that were noble and honorable. We could say that this is what we wanted our fathers, grandfathers, and uncles to be, and even if they weren't, they gave us an example of who we could be. This is one of the important things that this book can mean to our society today.

I purchased this along with Leaving Boyhood Behind by Mr. Guzman and it changed my life. Seriously! I was born and raised a Catholic, and yet I had not passed through the requisite gates of manhood. I could not understand why I felt so unequipped, unqualified and unfulfilled as a man, father and husband. I retired after 27 years of naval service, fought in Afghanistan and Kosovo, and came from a low-income household to a successful engineer. I should have been ecstatic to enjoy such blessings--returning home safely to my wife, and enjoying a fruitful life. Underneath it all I was fighting an addiction with pornography, and ignoring my wife through intimacy anorexia. These books coupled with professional therapy saved me, and my marriage--still under works, but all in God's hands now. I now serve only one master, and the future looks bright. Mr. Guzman lays it all out, and illustrates the milestones required, along with the blueprint for reaching manhood and becoming an authentic Catholic gentleman. Bravo sir!!!! And, thank you!

When culture attempts to deviate us from the righteous way and depart from God, this book remind us how and why we must remain true to God’s call as men in these days
