Either, both, or neither, (after reset 14) . Then for the umpteenth time you try the USER code and unlock and.... BEEPBEEPBEEP red flash red flash red flash. You then, (plodding along), read the manual with the too small text and see that three red flashes and beeps means you haven't "handed" the lock correctly. Next reset.. blue air. Where I went wrong and the instruction manual fails is that after the handed test the lock is left UNLOCKED. So when you finally get done with the programming and user codes and actually enter the user code and hit the lock/unlock button the lock knows it's already unlocked and tells you you're entering an illogical command beep-red beep-red beep-red. If you don't get the plate exactly opposite the deadbolt, it will bind and have trouble locking. My real problem/frustration came with the programming. There a couple of things the instructions don't tell you: 1. When deleting the default user code 1234, I had the door open and the deadbolt retracted as the instructions tell you. After deleting 1234, I tried that code, to make sure it was deleted, and the deadbolt came out! I thought the code had not been deleted. After MANY tries, I finally figured out that when you enter an invalid code, the deadbolt always comes out (locks). The deleted code will not unlock the door, but it will still lock it. I guess this is a "feature," but I wish they had told me. 2. When you enter a user code to unlock the door, then press the lock/unlock button, the door unlocks. But when you close an unlocked door, then enter a user code and press the lock/unlock button to lock the door, the door does NOT lock. You have to press the lock/unlock button a SECOND TIME, then it locks. I spent a lot of time figuring this out.
