Awful
I read this book because 1. I like Hosker's writing. 2: I have studied the Lancasterian Family for 61 years. One of the first serious books I ever bought, at the age of 13, was Sir Sidney Armitage Smith's definative biography "John of Gaunt."Hosker should have read that book. He would have avoided so many mistakes. By the end of the book, I wanted to buy a ticket, fly to England and jump up and down on Hosker's head. So many historical inaccuracies, a mishmash of plot twists, contradictions of characters within the same chapters - it was horrible. This book is NOT indicative of Hosker's writing. I can only think that there was some reason to hurry the book(s) along to get them published. This book and the ones preceding it are not historically correct and Hosker's characterization of a man who helped define the late 14th century is ludicrous. I fear to see what he will do with Henry of Monmouth, Henry V and Agincourt.

Efconomic Truth
He doesn't seem to be a fan of my compatriots. Little or no mentioon of Nechtansmere, Bannockburn or Otterburn etc.. Also the English didn't behave like angels on the marches. Nevertheless, as always Mr. Hosker's books are well written and always worth a read.

Excellent Historical Fiction
This is about the sixth or seventh book I have read by this author and I am very impressed. It is apparent that he has taken great pains to keep to history while telling a compelling and exciting action adventure.

Another Superb Middle Ages Series
Griff Hosker's works are truly addictive. This one has a new hero who upholds the virtues of a good man. Will rejects the "easy" options for the honorable course. Not always the comfortable path..but always the right one. Hurry with the next installment, please!

Pretty good
Although not too excited by the premise I decided to give this series a try, and was not disappointed. Historically accurate, great character development and a smooth flowing narrative each book in the series has been a pleasure to read. Highly recommended!

This is an excellent series. The author continues to make English history fun to read, and I would recommend all his books for reading pleasure.

An Engrossing Tale about Richard's II's downfall
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, more so than some of this author's work. There were a few typos and I found that the use of the wrong title at times annoying. e.g. Earl instead of Duke, but overall there were fewer mistakes than is sometimes the case with his work.

Brilliant
Terrific. Read all three books from start to finish the characters felt very real and the true historical figures were made to feel very real. Wish there were more in this particulars series!

Another solid character
Have read all three of these books, there is a similarity between this series and the Warlord series. The characters are well defined, and the distinction is made for those who see Serfs as below them and those that pick up and change their stars!
