Well I've tried some other brands of relatively inexpensive pool shoes. I like these MUCH better for a couple of reasons:1) I have very narrow feet, and with the other brand, even fastening the Velcro as tightly as possible was still too loose. I actually had to take up some of the excess with a sewing machine and make sort of a dart in the top, which looked pretty weird. It wasn't too big an issue since I never wear them anywhere but in the house and/or back yard, but still. The new ones are great in this regard. I did not have to do any extra adjustments besides just tightening the Velcro.There seems to be more Velcro so there is a broader range of adjustment. Now of course, these are for men, so I expected the other ones to be wider, but they were not very adjustable. I was able to just put these on right out of the box & they were great.2) The soles are much thicker and firmer, but still very lightweight. My other ones compressed very quickly, sometimes after one day, & never really came all the way back to the original height. After a couple of months the toe area of the sole was pressed very thin. These new ones are great in that regard. They don't squash down and feel sturdier.Combined with the great price, I consider these an outstanding deal. I would definitely buy these again. I just can't see spending $30 on a pair of the expensive ones. They are just one step up from thongs (we used to call them zori's), after all. And I did wear some Adidas once & they were as heavy as car tires.

My old pool sandals were speedo's and had better arch support than these. If i was to order again I would probably get the next size up. These are nice and light I have no complaint for the price.
