Cauldham (3 Pack) Commercial-Grade 4-1/2" Full Mortise Ball-Bearing Door Hinges - Oil Rubbed Bronze

Exterior door for bathroom undergoing remodel required 4.5" oil-rubbed bronze finished hinges to match new door hardware and fixtures. Big box hardware stores (HD & Lowes) don't carry 4.5" hinges at all and options for 4.5" hinges on Amazon are slim (the few other online retailers had fewer options and higher prices). Think I only found 2-3 options in the oil-rubbed finish on Amazon. Door (installed by previous owner) had four hinges, so needed four to replace original hinges without leaving 2 empty mortise eye-sores. (Four hinges may be overkill, but considering the door's unaccountably enormous weight I can't say I blame the original installer for the decision) As I recall, none of the options on Amazon offered single hinges, so was forced to buy two 3-packs. Paying ~$70 for four hinges is a little rich for my blood, but I believe I went with the most affordable option available. When I opened the package, I was pleased to find that each hinge did seem like it might be worth $12 bucks. Very solid/heavy with nice, friction-free movement and quality oil-rubbed bronze finish. Good-quality screws appropriately match the hinge finish. Comes both with wood screws for fastening to traditional wood doors/frames and with machine screws for fastening to metal doors/frames. Always wish hinges would come with 1 extra screw per hinge, so that you can replace a screw whose head may get marred in the course of installation. Unfortunately, this hinge set does not grant that wish, but the screws are heavy duty and I managed not to mar them during installation (yes, I'm one of those savages who install hinge screws using a power driver rather than by hand). Anyway -- the hinges slipped right into the original 4.5" mortises, so they're machined accurately, and, since the new screws were larger than the originals (#12 vs #10, I believe), the door screwed in very securely. And now, $70 poorer and two unused hinges later, I am looking at a door that swings beautifully and matches...the toilet paper holder. If you have read this far, I hope that you will take this review into consideration for the "most unnecessarily long review of a door hinge" award.

Hinges were the wrong size for me but very nice quality I wish they had them in the size I needed

I used these on a custom bookshelf door that was quite heavy and sagging and they did the trick. I don’t envision these ever having that same problem.

Very nice quality, fasteners are great too. Hope they last long and maintain their great appearance.

So we had the issue of installing an over-sized, over-weight pair of 82 lb doors made from solid slab panels of wood. These were a great price online and in a dark finish that blended with other projects around the door area. Used a hinge cut-out template/guide kit with a hand held router and chisel. Worked great installed. The doors open and close smoothly and quietly without sagging.

I sought out ball-bearing style hinges specifically so that they would not have lateral play. These have a small gap (1/32" ?) surrounding the bearings so that gripping the leaves with a push/pull motion will produce metallic clicking.The ball bearing hinges by Emporio Door are identically strong, slightly less expensive, and have zero play. The difference would probably not be noticeable in most door installations, but I am using them for a folding table and do not want lateral play.

My front door is very heavy. These hinges work fine. Hope they last as long as I do.

Heavy duty, with a great finish. Used to replace 40 year old hinges on a heavy steel entrance door. Like that it came with both wood and machine screws for steel doors.

These hinges are great! Installed them about a week ago on a 250+ door and still working perfectly with no issues!
