Fantastic quality for the price.
I love this pen! For the price it cannot be beat. I've even bought a few more in different colors. The metal build quality is perhaps a bit heavy, but for me this is a big plus as it is super durable. I'm using it to draw and sketch with, and I'm using Platinum Carbon ink with the converter. Waterproof and dark line quality, the nib is smooth with a perfect flow. I can watercolor over this with no bleed whatsoever. Buy one and see!

Substantial pen, put down a lot of ink
I used to use a fountain pen decades ago in high school. Just got back into them, and discovered the Jin Hao line. Got this orange one because the color matches my first vehicle (LOL). I wound up getting another Jin Hao (x450), too.One thing I noticed with both is that they are pretty wet pens...they put down a lot of ink. As a leftie, this can create some smearing issues if I'm not careful, but more importantly is the amount of ink readily bleeds through the paper of standard notebooks and journals.I replaced the nib on the x450 with a fine nib from Goulet, and it writes a lot nicer. The weight of that pen compared to the Lamy Safari and Pilot Metropolitan makes it nice to write with. The one for this review, the 159, is a big pen, but nice to write with. The other thing I dislike about this pen is that it doesn't post well at all...the slightest nudge or bump causes the cap to come off the body. I've stopped even trying to post the cap anymore. You can't beat the value, esp if you like a wet pen with an indeterminate nib size (medium?? because it doesn't say). For another $10-$15, put a replacement fine nib, and you'll have a decent pen for not a lot of money.

Pretty nice, but for larger hands
I really do like this pen. It is great value and the styling is clea, but simple and simultaneously perky. Great to use on a dreary day. One consideration: If you have small to leaner medium-sized hands, you may find this pen to be uncomfortably bulky for your use. This pen - well, she's a big girl. I have large hands for most women and I find the pen to be a little on the heavy side.If you have a special guy in your life with either bulky hands or large hands, this just might be the pen for him.

Great Product... Great Value and Outstanding Service
The fountain pens write very well and comfortable handling (better than other pen 3 times the price). One of the pen did not work and the vendor send the replacement in 2 days. I will buy from this vendor anytime.

a disppointing purchase
Hopefully the pen sent me was a glitch, for i like the appearance of the pen and its weight and hold. But sadly, it performed quite poorly. Handwriting with a fountain pen should be pleasurable. This pen did not deliver.

What a wonderful pen.
Hard to believe it was only $10. Work straight away, no skipping, very smooth! I personally love the weight of the pen but if you like a light weight one then it's not for you. Love the larger barrel too. Totally worth the money!

fast delivery and correct parts
The pen is heavy. The pen has a screw top cap . The bent nib can do narrow to wide and reverse writes like a medium fine

Solid pen for a killer price
The X159 takes a creative stab at cigar styled fountain pen. It does a good job of giving you the feel and overall weight you might expect from higher priced pens. Don’t recommend to post this pen and the nib is a decent performer.

Buena pluma
Me gustó su peso y la plumilla. El flujo de la tinta excelente. La relación coste-beneficio me parece muy buena.

EXCELENTE
INCREÍBLE QUE UNA PLUMA DE ESTE PRECIO TENGA ESA CALIDAD DE TERMINADO, DE PRESENTACIÓN Y DE ESCRITURA, HE PEDIDO DE DIFERENTES COLORES. EXCELENTE PLUMA PARA USO DIARIO Y PARA OCASIONES ESPECIALES, DÁ LA IMPRESIÓN DE SER UNA PLUMA DE MUCHO MAS VALOR.

Orange-red rather than a true red; one of the best owned
The Jinhao 159 Fountain Pen, an orange-red in this example, and purchased to replace a similar but faulty pen (only one ever to have a problem) is often compared with the Mont Blanc MeisterStuck although a fraction of its price. A follow-up purchase in order to use another ink, it is certainly one of the best in my collection regardless of price (including a Meisterstuck, which it easily surpasses). The barrel is lacquered upon metal in a high gloss finish with relatively few white metal embellishments, as wide in body as that upon which it is modelled with a screw-on cap that is apparently plastic. Its grip section is excellent and very slightly slimmed and far more comfortable to use. The included filler adapter is not capacious but should suffice for a couple of day's use. If necessary, a few spare cartridges - it accepts the short-form International Standard variety available from several brands - can be carried.Grading of Chinese nibs is quite flexible and variations are to be expected. Jinhao's are routinely engraved '18KGP' even when not. The nib is steel and a very good one. The screw threads on cap and barrel may not be well-machined but are fully functional. The pocket clip is of pressed metal and less strong than it might be.Although supposedly identically graded, other examples of this nib are reasonably evenly divided between 'Fine' grade or slightly below to a true or nearly true Medium. None have yet been found to approach a true Broad. The metal core of this pen gives it a weight of around 48g unfilled which may seem quite heavy but the pen is so comfortable to use that it will not be noticed. It also appears to be popular among some juvenile users. It is a pen that is best used with the cap unposted as it can otherwise overbalance.Possibly the very best in Jinhao's range, the three owned examples have equally-graded nibs, function to a similar excellent level and are always a pleasure to use.

A normally excellent pen although a faulty sample was supplied in this instance
Intended to enhance a small group of larger Jinhao pens, including a plain black 159.Although the black version is about as good as may be expected, this was faulty when received - the filler was a very loose fit within the nib section and the seal too loose to draw up ink. I have other pens from Jinhao and all have been fine is this respect despite variations in the styling of the fillers used. There was no obvious visible fault and it is possible that a replacement filler (had one been available) would have solved the problem but the pen had only just been purchased, was consequently considered DOA and returned. The champagne finish is also less pleasing than was hoped and a replacement has been ordered in another colour.
