Cannot keep this one under my hat
With headliners like Peter Beagle, Jim Butcher, Charles De Lint, and Neil Gaiman among other stellar authors, this volume of witchy-poo stories promised to be terrific and it delivered but truthfully the most fun was finding the lesser known (to me at least) authors like Isobelle Carmody and Margo Lanagan and M. Rickert.I read anthologies in search of new authors and this bewitching collection sent me on a lovely path of exploration. I enjoyed it and will be back to reread my favorites.

Wonderful stories
This is definitely a YA book and easy enough to read for the 11 -13 year old. So I was a little concerned after the first story that it was a little too young for me - I am an adult. But the stories are truly wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy fiction with a magical bent. The Harry Dresden story is particularly fun to read. It's a quick read for an adult, but absorbing and entertaining.

Bewitchingly compiled for witches of every age...
Loved this charming collection of light, easy reading. As I was aware that this book had been compiled to be appropriate for Strahan's daughters...I did not expect "slap your face" stories filled with obscenities, sex, noir and violence. The stories are sweet, scary, spooky and thought provoking. A perfect treat for the end of a long tense day.Plus...I'd read the back of a fertilizer bag if Peter Beagle wrote it.

A pretty good compilation
I typically don't care for this type of book, so I wasn't expecting too much overall. I actually just got this one for one author in particular who wrote a part in this book. After reading that part, I took a look at the other authors, who have written things I've like and read their parts, along with everything else. It was surprisingly good as a whole. Well worth taking a look.

stories vary from interesting to mediocre, I purchased it primarily for the Jim butcher, but it isn't a bad anthology. just haven't found any stories I loved among them

Highly Recommended!
I picked up this collection for the Jim Butcher Dresden Files story. This collection, however, surprised me-- I enjoyed every single story in it, even those that started off a little slow. I highly recommend that you give it a try!The stories take a wide variety of viewpoints on the "witch" theme, from witchcraft academies to Wiccan festivals. Some are set very "real world" while others are clearly not. With some the point is never fully settled. Thanks, Jim and Jonathan, for your parts in putting me on to a lot of good settings and writers.

Not great, not awful, not much new.
Not all of the stories were new, so many I had already read. Not the best anthology I've ever read, but not the worst. You'd probably be better off checking this our from your library first and then deciding to buy after.

Interesting
I bought this for Jim Butcher's Bigfoot story, which was great, but I found most of the stories entertaining. Worth it.

Under my hat tales from the cauldron
This is an interesting mix of magic romance and slight horror. Well worth a read as the stories are well written and entertaining. Each has its own style from folksy Grimm like tales to almost M R James quality. A good read for dark nights.

if you have a favourite author amongst the contributors it is worth buying
Some goodies, but uneven; if you have a favourite author amongst the contributors it is worth buying, but the quality varies considerably

Expected More
The stories are okay, I suppose. I got excited because of a few of the names attached to the book, but only managed to get a few stories in before I put it down.
