TEDCOToys 00018 Gravitron Space Gyroscope Peggable Card

my boys love this toy. It is worth the money. It is a simple old fashioned design and it entertains them for a while.

These are NOT balanced at all (and this is my second one). I laugh at the blurb on the package the device came in, "Assembled at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, using STATE OF THE ART AUTOMATED MANUFACTURING"LOL, and they FAIL in that "State of the art"..... smh

I use this gyroscope in my physics classes. I pass around a pair, one with the disk inside rotating, one not, so that the students can feel the difference angular momentum makes. This works very well, although I generally have to rev things up every couple of rows. Because all the moving parts are enclosed, this is an easy gyroscope to have the students pass around.I don't have small kids actually doing the revving up or playing with the gyroscope, but so far, mine have lasted for years.

This was a holiday gift and it broke within an hour of very gentle play. Very poor quality. I should have listened to the other reviewers.

Stupid pull sting broke in a day or two.

My 5 year old received this as a gift. Worked great and was fun for a while. First time it hit the floor (fell about 2 feet onto carpet) it started making noise and wouldn't spin very well. Second time it hit the floor it stopped working completely, couldn't get it spun up. No 5 year old could play with this for more than a few minutes without breaking it, much to fragile to be sold as a toy. POORLY designed for use by children. I would never buy one of these.
