Product Description Spa-kem 267 Spa brominating tablets pool & spa chemicals, 1-1/2 lb From the Manufacturer Spa-Kem 267-6 Spa Brominating Tablets is part of the Chem Lab easy 5 Step 5 Color DIY pool maintenance program. All Kem-Tek Pool Products and Spa-Kem Spa products provide contact information for a Live 24/7 Consumer help line as well as an online interactive water testing application. Sanitizing is a very critical part of keeping your spa or hot tub free from algae and bacterial growth. Due to the importance of keeping your spa clean, sanitizer levels should be tested several times a week to maintain them in the proper range, even when the spa has not been used. The two best choices for sanitization are chlorine and bromine. Chlorine is economical and fast acting, but is easily destroyed by heat and can produce chlorine odor when not used properly. Bromine is a slow released sanitizer, but it is more resistant to heat and generating odors.

USE IN TOILET CLEANING SYSTEMS
I am writing a review of three toilet cleaning systems I've bought here on amazon:Fluidmaster: Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based tablet. Cartridge is not meant to be refilled. Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom. Cartridge can be modified (I used a dremel) so it is easily refilled.NeverScrub: Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based crystal. Cartridge is not meant to be refilled. Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom.Kaboom: Does not use a cartridge. Bromine tablet refill inserts directly by unscrewing a cap. No odor noticeable in the bathroom. All three of these systems work the same way and all are really easy to install. All of them put a toilet cleaning chemical (tablets or crystals) in-line between the water fill valve and the toilet bowl fill pipe. All of them prevent the chemical from getting into the tank water (so there is no damage to the plastic parts in the tank). All sell refills for their systems. All keep the toilet bowl equally clean for about 1-3 months depending on how often it is flushed.Amazon also sells Pool/Spa Cleaning Chlorine and Bromine tablets, which as far as I can tell do just as good a job keeping the toilets clean as the refills but at a fraction of the cost. I have tried all of the following, each of which provide enough tablets to keep all the toilets in the house clean for 10 years and they are all very cheap:Kem-Tek 177: The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. The bathroom has a slight chlorine odor.Spa-Kem 267: The tablets are too large to fit in the Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor.Tropi Clear: The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor.Chlorine and Bromine are fairly equal in cleaning ability. Chlorine has that chlorine odor. Bromine is broken down by sunlight. Which is why, on a sunny day, outdoor pools use chlorine. But at night, or indoors, or on a cloudy day, they use bromine since there is no smell.Summary. The Fluidmaster system works but the cartridges are expensive. To refill the cartridges easily requires a small modification with a dremel tool. The cartridge is too small for any tablets larger than 1 inch in diameter. The NeverScrub system also works but the cartridges are expensive. What I am using is the Kaboom system with the bromine tablets (either the Tropi Clear or the Spa-Kem 267) as they have no odor and clean just as well as the chlorine tablets.

Use for Clean Toilets!
I actually use this to keep my toilets from getting rings in them. I put one tablet in the tank of each and it lasts for a couple months. It works great! It advertises that there's no chlorine smell, but I still smell it a little bit. It's not too terribly strong though.

Great for the Kaboom Self Cleaning Unit
I ordered thes brominating tablets for my Kaboom Self Cleaning unit for my toilet. Several reviewers recommend this type of tablet for the Kaboom unit and they really work. They are for cleaning a hot tub, but I use one tablet in the Kaboom Self Cleaning unit and it last over a month. It does not leave a chlorine odor and I am very pleased with the results.

Good Product
We have used this brand of tablets in our hot tub for more than a year now. The tablets fit our floating dispenser, they hold their shape, and they don't flake like some other brands. They do a great job keeping the hot tub clean and the bromine balance is easy to maintain. The price is right and delivery was speedy. We recommend this brand and we really enjoy the convenience of ordering it from amazon.

Keeps my patio fountain clean
The fountain store recommended using a Brominating Tablet, like is used in spas and hot tubs, to keep the water clean in my medium size fountain. After hiking to the pool supply store every couple of months throughout the years, I finally thought to look for a Brominating Tablet on Amazon. This one works great! But I had some concerns about using a chemical because birds are always drinking the water, so 2 years ago I switched and went with a "green" "environmentally friendly" product and YUCK--I had green stuff growing in less than a week. Took quite a while to kill it and then I went back to the bromide! I have run the fountain 24/7 for 6 years now with the bromide and haven't had any problems with the bromide harming the wildlife or the fountain pump. I use one tablet about every 5-7 days, depending on the weather--more frequently in hotter weather. If I had a spa or hot tub, I would also use this product without hesitation.

clean me up, Scotty.
I use these in the "Kaboom" toilet tank tab holder/flow thingy. Keeps the water in the bowl freash smelling, w/o a clorine smell. (which I had when I used 1" clorine tabs). A bit pricey, but worth it, and cheaper than the pool supply stores.

Works with Kaboom
I'm also using this with a Kaboom toilet system. Two tablets fit perfectly into the system and is much more economical than buying their refills. There is a mild smell, but it's not overpowering. Does a great deal to help keep toilets looking and smelling clean.

Better and cheaper than spa frog
I have a spa frog dispenser in my hot tub. I just separated the outside shell of the bromine cartridge and drop two tablets in it and put it in the dispenser...works great and is cheaper by a lot. Sometimes the frog one lasts less than a week, I think you get outdated ones! Best change Ive made! Great product!
