For my perfect little circles!
I was surprised on how small it was when I got it. At first I was mad. Then once I just shut up and used it. Its great! HOWEVER, you MUST MUST MUST use the proper hammer. At first i thought, piece of...... as I was using my rawhide mallet to pound it. Yes, worked, but I did get shadows. So I switched to my brass mallet and swung with confidence and BAM! gorgeous circles. I was thinking I would never use the tiny ones, but I LOVE THEM for accent pieces. Texture them, ohhh nice! Or punch a bunch and then drill a hole in them, put on a chain for a charm bracelet or earring danglies. Awesome!Seriously, I LOVE THIS THING. I will still get the larger one.

The punches are too soft as others have said
Using this for coin rings. First, the punches dull up very quickly. Second, some of the punch slots are not ideal for certain coins, further limiting this item's utility.Dedicated, self-centering coin punches are far more expensive, but much easier to use and tend to last longer.

"Run away FAST...run away REAL FAST!!!
The fit between the punches and die cavities is SO LOOSE (very noticeable on the 3 largest punches) that there is an almost certainty that the punch will hit the rim edge of the lower die cavity when an attempt is made to punch out something. Also...the unit received has the punches loaded into the "screw side" of the die platform. If you don't already know, the holes are not the same diameter on the upper and lower platform. The "looser" holes happen to be on the screw side, and this exacerbates the alignment issue. Best practice calls for the punches to be loaded into the "non-screw" side to minimize contact potential with the lower die cavities (as is shown in the product photo)...but even then, the fit is not up to par for some of the punches. All it takes is one hit of the punch face edge against the lower cavity edge to ruin the sharp machined surface and render the punch less than effective from then on... and its a certainty this WILL happen with the looser fitting ones. Finally... the supplied kit is METRIC (3mm to 15mm) not fractional as indicated in the description. Sure... some will be "close enough" but I for one don't want to have to calculate the "rough" fractional inch equivalents when I use them.I've used similar (in concept only) punch and die sets in an industrial machine shop and also an in-house product service center to make shims for various mechanisms containing shafts. The punch/die fit is worlds apart from this item. If you are looking for a unit to make shims for shaft driven items (even shims made from brass) ....my friends this isn't for you! If you see this product heading your way, "Run away FAST...Run away REAL FAST!!!
