Miracles Do Happen: God Can Do the Impossible

I have read many spiritual books to help feed my poor little soul. In this book Sr. Briege is very down to earth, current and her style of talking is very easy to understand. She gives real life experiences that help us to understand even further. She and Father Scallon just finished up our Lenten retreat and it was very good, inspiring, and motivating. You can tell she does not like anyone to pay her extra attention for any gift she has been given but only points us to Jesus. She reminds us of what we have in our Catholic Church/Faith and that Jesus is a REAL PERSON in the Eucharist. We have passed this on to our Catholic friends and family that would normally not read a spiritual book and they too mentioned how good it was and easy to understand.

This year 2010 summer July when I went back to Hong Kong and stayed with one of my dearest sisters, Miranda's house, she let me sleeping in her studying room. My sister, Miranda, loves to buy many spiritual books, and also she is always so generous to buy the extra copies giving to her another twin sister, Marianna and me. While I was staying in her house, I looked around her bookshelves and found a book named "Miracles Do Happen" translated in Chinese. The book is very thin and small, and I don't know why I am attracted by the book. When I was first reading it, I didn't pay any attention and was more attractive the sisters gathering during the visit. For some reasons, I have desire wanted to finish it, so I decided stealing the book and bringing it back without telling my sister until recently I finished it. After finished reading this book, I am unable to start another book because I am still overwhelming for what Sr. Briege's writings...................................... I also decided to order 10 copies in English and distributed to my relatives and friends. I might consider to order another 10 copies for the RCIA candidates for their baptism.I grew up with lot of Catholic educational background, and I was very active in my Hong Kong Catholic Church, but it was only after reading Sr. Briege McKenna's book that I really recognized the power of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. I started preciously taking the moment of the intimate time by receiving the Holy Eucharist. I take that moment telling Jesus my physically, mentally, and emotionally pain and praying His mercy in healing me and touching me. Sr. Briege reminds us of what we have in our Catholic Church/Faith and that Christ is a REAL PERSON in the Eucharist. Sr. Briege also reminds us how blessed and the grace as a Catholic, the power of faith and belief in Jesus, prayer and the efficacy of Catholic Seven sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation, The Holy Eucharist, Reconciliation or Penance, Anointing of the sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony) especially the Holy Eucharist for our whole life.The book is great for renewing faith in prayer, and offers much guidance and learning to discern God's voice in our life through prayer. Her book also covers so many critical and sensitive subjects such as the attacks on the priesthood, the place of our Blessed Mother in our faith, etc.As Fr. Thomas Keating said, "Divine Union is the goal of all Christians." This relationship is my destiny as a Catholic and as a human being, so I wanted in sharing with you.

Really enjoyed this book. For those looking for hope.

This is the story of a mystic Irish nun who lives in Florida. She suffered severe rhuematoid arthritis and was healed by Jesus. It's interesting to hear her take on the Catholic Church, prayer and priest. It's not for everyone but, I liked it. It reads a little slow.

Reading Sister McKenna's book will bring anyone one step closer to God. It renews one's faith in our Lord's love and mercy if we just reach out to Him in prayer and reflection. It makes one realize the importance of setting a special time aside each day to be with our Lord in prayer. I recommend this book to all who lead busy lives and sometimes forget what should come first in our lives.

Our book study just completed Miracles Do Happen. It was incredible to see God open hearts and minds to Jesus' healing power. It's written in a simple style but it packs a punch in terms of presenting the Gospel. The son of a friend of our group was diagnosed with a recurrence of a brain tumor, and just like in the book, Sister Briege showed up in our town and was able to pray with him and his family. His prognosis is now quite favorable, praise God. If you want to hear the story of how Jesus still cares about His people, how Jesus is still in the healing business and you need a reason to have hope in Christ, this book is the best choice I've ever seen.
