Works really well. One of the Best if not the best.
I almost bought one with a carbon filter. Glad I did not. My thought was how would the steam escape? Also what about cleaning it and the longevity of it. With this splatter guard the steam escapes through the perforations and it stops grease from splattering.Cleaning this is no problem. It is actually very easy, unlike a screen with a filter. This is sturdy and if you need a little Elbow grease to get it clean, no problem. Can not do that with a screen type, especially one with a filter. Two Thumbs up for this. I recently ordered a Fissler splatter guard because I ordered their crisper fry pan. I did not receive it yet but I am sure that it will not perform any different than the Calphalon. The Fissler hangs on the fry pan so you do not have to lay it down some where or hold it in your hand. I am only mentioning this because it is true.I can not rate the Fissler yet but I can not see it being any better than the Calphalon.I can not see any splatter guard being better, if anything the Calphalon is equal too or better than all. Hope this is helpful? Just too mention. I do require two splatter guards during some of my cooking. I maybe reducing sauce and frying at the same time. I use the Calphalon as a cover and I get release of water vapor and prevention of splatter caused by bubbling at the same time. Thanks.

Does the job without making a mess
I use this at least twice a day. I was skeptical because I had one with a mesh screen once; it didn't work. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. Of course it was on back order so I had to wait. Now I see why; it works! Because of the solid cover with well-spaced holes for steam to escape, the splatter is greatly reduced and the contents in the pan fry (don't boil). The only time I get splatter is when I remove the cover to turn the contents of what I'm cooking. Then I'm careful to tilt the cover to the side to allow the accumulated moisture to drip onto the pan and not onto my glass cooktop. Clean up is so much easier with this; it is an indispensable tool when frying or sautéing.

It deserves 5 stars instead of 4
I was going to give it 4 stars but after thinking it through, it really deserves 5. It fully meets my improvement expectations over the screen type splatter guards. It venelates adequately so food does not steam. It catches 95% of splatter (you have to remove it to turn food so some splatter still reaches the stove). It cleans up very nicely. There are no negatives except if you are a small pan user. It's fairly large at 13 inches, but with significant overhang, still holds its place on smaller pans (8 in). Thought it would be an improvement if it came in two sizes - but no, one size is enough in the final analysis. So 5 stars is my rating. A well made, solid piece of equipment that does the job and is made to last.

Heavy Guage Stainless Steel Splatter Guard
We bought this back in March and it still looks new. It fits all of the frying pans so I don't have to keep replacing the flimsy screens of various sizes. It is a very heavy gauge of stainless steel. I have not run it through the dishwasher but I have left it sitting in soapy water to remove oil and there is no rust. The handle is flexible but not as flexible as my silicone pans and potholders, so I have not tried in the oven and don't intend to.I have used it mostly for frying chicken or bacon and haven't noticed any steaming issues others had mentioned. Most of my pans are also calphalon or analon and have a flared top so the guard doesn't seat perfectly. That may be why I don't have that issue as steam can't build up. If that is the cause, slightly offsetting the lid will prevent it. I much prefer the heavy duty style to the models I have had in the past that either rusted, or the screens came apart or trapped grease between two screens requiring boiling water to clean thoroughly. And it looks great hanging from a pot rack.

Overall good product, size is a little awkward
This splatter guard is clearly made of quality materials. It is sturdy, easy to clean, and pretty easy to use. In general, I was looking for a way to keep the oil residue off of my glass-top stove. I kept feeling like sauteing anything or frying anything was such an ordeal with the follow-up cleaning that it wasn't even worth cooking. I was hoping this would be my solution. In large part, it has been. The size indentations in the metal fit well with standard pan sizes, and the holes are big enough that they allow a good amount of steam to escape (so that it doesn't interrupt frying too much). However, this splatter guard is too large to store easily, and the larger surface area also means more cleanup. Because it's so large, you can't really just sit it comfortably on the stove or next to it when it isn't in use. I don't own any 13-inch pans, and I'm not certain it's a particularly "average" pan size to own, so I think it would be better if the product were just a bit smaller, and if it had an adjustable handle to make storage easier.

Excellent: effective, covers many sizes of pans, easy to clean, well made, good price.
It is effective in containing splatter from cooking in a frying pan, it works on a variety of size pans, and it's a LOT easier to clean than the screen or mesh type guard. You may still get some grease plugging a few of the little holes when you clean up after using, just use any kind of brush (cleaning brush, old toothbrush, etc.) for the bristles to clean plus the usual dish detergent. Good product, well made.

Simple and Perfect
I got this because I got tired of being blistered by bacon on almost a daily basis. I went with the Calphalon brand because the quality is nice and it was about the same price as similar products. It works like a charm and contains bacon splatter quite well. I like it better than the mesh material because it is easier to clean and I believe it will last much longer. Additionally, the grooves on the underside are quite handy at fitting different sizes of skillets. Its a simple object with a clear purpose and it performs as it should. I highly recommend it.

Great product
Tried a lot of splatter screens and none of them worked to my satisfaction. Most of them hardly worked at all. This product works the best of all the ones I have tried and also meets my wife's approval. Fits a few sizes of frying pan (cast iron) and doesn't leave a mess. Can't ask for more.
